FAS UGM Students Studied Extensive Farming System in Australia

Two students of Faculty of Animal Science (FAS) UGM, M. Alvian Azwar Anas (2015) and Kezia Nathania Amos Oelendeda (2017), had the opportunity to study Australia’s extensive farming system in the NTCA Indonesia Australia Pastoral Program (NIAPP) 2019 on August 25-October 31 2019.

“I was placed in Pigeon Hole Station under Heytesbury Cattle Company with 22,000 cows and 181,000 ha, while Kezia was placed at Brunchilly Station under Sidney Kidman Cattle Company with 24,000 cows and 4572 km2. “There is an extensive farming system, which is raising cattle using natural grazing in feeding, so utilizing native grass and cattle are not kept in the animal housing,” Alvian said in a release Thursday (11/28). read more

Applying Effective Business Strategy, Alumnus of FAS UGM Successful at National and International Level

Alumnus of Faculty of Animal Science (FAS) UGM batch 2006, Andromeda Sindoro, as the CEO of Sweet Sundae Ice Cream, won the Best of the Best Challenger in the 10th Diplomat Success Challenge (DSC X) 2019. Andro successfully won the competition after defeating 12,500 proposals submitted to the committee.

FAS UGM Cares about the Conservation of Ayam Ketawa

Preservation of ayam ketawa (laughing chicken) as a native germplasm of Indonesia is still carried out by hobbyist, the role of competent institutions in genetics and livestock breeding is still minimal.

Eng, at the Gathering of Ayam Ketawa Hobbyist, Saturday (9/11) at the Gebyar Lustrum X, FAS UGM expressed readiness to be involved in the preservation and development of this original Sulawesi germplasm. It is because FAS UGM has a mandate to conduct research and development of livestock through conservation of native Indonesian germplasm so as not to become extinct or claimed by other parties. read more

FAS UGM Successfully Breaks the MURI Record for Most Klathak Satay Dishes

The recordĀ  for consumption of the most klathak satay in the world was finally successfully broken by the Faculty of Animal Science (FAS) Universitas Gadjah Mada on the campus yard, Sunday morning (10/11).

Dean of FAS UGM, Prof. Dr. Ir. Ali Agus, DAA, DEA, IPU, ASEAN. Eng, explained that as many as 10,011 sticks were recorded being eaten together by 1,969 people after cycling, on the Klathak Satay Record Breaking of FAS UGM. The number of satay klathak and people involved is a symbol of the birth date of the FAS UGM, which is November 10, 1969. read more

Carriage Horse Conservation and Development Need Government Attention

Carriage horse and coachman survive in the midst of changing times, requiring government attention for food, health, and genetic problems. The horse is the key to the existence of the carriage, a traditional means of transportation which is appointed as one of the 8 special features of the Yogyakarta Special Region.

This was revealed at the Horse and Carriage Development Workshop which was held as a series of Lustrum X activities at the Faculty of Animal Science (FAS) Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) in the campus on Friday (08/11). The guest speaker at the program was moderated by Ir. Tri Satya Mastuti Widi, S.Pt, MP, M.Sc, Ph.D, IPM, ASEAN. Eng, this includes Drs. H GBPH Yudaningrat, MM (Advisor of the Coachman Community in Yogyakarta), Agus Arif Nugroho, S.STP, M.Si (Head of the Yogyakarta Transportation Department), and Ir. Panjono, S.Pt, M.P, Ph.D, IPM (Laboratory of Meat, Draught and Companian Animals Laboratory). It was also invited the chairman of the Yogyakarta Coachman Community, Purwanto, and a dozen members who were mostly from the districts of Sleman and Bantul. read more
