Started construction in mid-2022, the International Training Center Cage-Free Innovation and Welfare Hub has been completed and inaugurated on June 16, 2023. The International Training Center (ITC) Cage-Free Innovation and Welfare Hub is a training center for the management of cage-free laying hens established by the Faculty of Animal Science UGM in collaboration with Global Food Partners and AERES University of Applied Sciences Netherlands. Besides being a training facility, the ITC Cage-Free Innovation and Welfare Hub also features a model farm for egg production with a cage-free system, capable of housing 3000 hens. Located in Kalijeruk Village, Ngemplak District, Sleman Regency, DIY, the ITC Cage-Free Innovation and Welfare Hub is the first cage-free system model in ASEAN.
As a form of commitment to expanding cooperation in the academic and research fields, Faculty of Animal Science UGM signed an MoU with Camiguin Polytechnic State College, Philippines (24/5). This nternational cooperation focuses on promoting cooperation in the academic and research fields. The academic field includes student exchanges, internships, participation in summer courses, MBKM, and others. The field of research includes research collaboration in the field of animal husbandry both between students and between lecturers. The hope is that this collaboration will open wider opportunities for the academic community to establish connections with partner institutions. (Secretariat/Prisil)
As many as 49 undergraduate students from the Faculty of Animal Science UGM officially graduated at the Graduation Ceremony Grha Sabha Pramana (24/5). Furthermore, the graduates took part in a inauguration and farewell event at the Auditorium drh. R Soepardjo, Faculty of Animal Science UGM. At this graduation ceremony, Noor Rizky Irmasari Hasibuan managed to achieve the highest GPA with a Cum Laude predicate with a GPA of 3.84.
Dean of the UGM Faculty of Animal Science, Prof. Budi Guntoro, S.Pt., Ph.D., ASEAN Eng., in his remarks conveyed the importance of strong character and mentality to be able to engage in social life. “Technological advances in the livestock sector in the 4.0 era are developing very rapidly. Not only science, but technological development must also be followed so that we are not left behind, eroded, and then forgotten. Therefore, young workers who had been studied at the Faculty of Animal Science are expected to become strong and resilient individuals in society, including in the field of worklife,” said Prof. Budi Guntoro. The Bachelor of Animal Science and Industry Study Program, Faculty of Animal Science UGM went through a visitation process for ASIIN international re-accreditation together with three study programs from the Faculty of Biology and the Postgraduate School on May 16-17, 2023. The accreditation for Bachelor of Animal Science and Industry Study Program was first submitted in 2017 and received ASIIN international accreditation in 2018 – 2023. This year, the Animal Husbandry Science and Industry Study Program, Faculty of Animal Husbandry UGM is again applying for an extension of the accreditation.
As many as 10 Postgraduate students at the Faculty of Animal Science UGM officially graduated at the Postgraduate Graduation Period III T.A. 2022/2023 at Grha Sabha Pramana (10/5). There are 2 Doctoral graduates with the highest GPA of 3.99 achieved by Dr. Restyana Agustine, S.Pt., M.Sc. There are 8 master graduates with the highest GPA achieved by Erlina Astuti, S.Pt., M.Sc.
