Undergraduate Program
Faculty of Animal Science UGM offers an undergraduate program in Animal Science and Industry. Continuous learning based on the results of the latest research will continue to be improved. Herewith, we expect that graduates will master scientific sciences and technologies so that they are able to think, act and behave well as scientists, apply the technology, knowledge, and skill into productive activities and dedication to society, and follow the global progress of sciences and technology. After completing the educational program in the Faculty of Animal Science UGM and meeting all requirements, graduates are given title as Bachelor of Animal Science or Sarjana Peternakan (abbreviated as S.Pt.)
Master Program
Faculty of Animal Science UGM runs master of science. The study program of master in animal science was first opened on 1 September 1980, with 2 majors available, animal production and animal nutrition. By the change, in 2006, with the issuance of UGM Rector Decree no. 89/P/SK/HT/2006 concerning the Implementation of Graduate Monodisciplinary Program based under the Faculty, The Graduate Program of Animal Science has been managed again by Faculty of Animal Science UGM. Starting in 2018 curriculum, Study Program of Master in Animal Science offers 5 specializations, Animal Nutrition and Feed Science, Animal Production System, Tropical Animal Breeding and Reproduction, Policy and Livestock Business; and Animal Product Technology.
Doctorate Program
Faculty of Animal Science UGM runs the doctorate study program. The implementation of doctorate study programs in the field of agricultural sciences refers to the Decree of Ministry of Education and Culture Republic of Indonesia No. 212/U/1999 on Implementation of Doctoral Program; Decree of Ministry of National Education Republic of Indonesia No. 232/U/2000 on the Guideline on Formulation of Higher Education Curriculum; and UGM regulation on Implementation of Doctoral Study Program. Since 9 March 2006, the implementation of Graduate Program in Animal Science becomes the monodisciplinary program under Faculty of Animal Science UGM as referring Rector Decree UGM No. 89/P/SK/HT/2006. The doctoral study programs in Animal Science consists of basic and special skills education and also research. The basic and special skills education consists of lectures, seminar, self-study, and scientific communication. Scientific programs offered is an evaluation of Indonesia feed utilization and development, exploration of Indonesia local animal genetic potentials and its productivity development and improvement, application of biotechnology in attempt to improve the quality and food safety of animal products and planning and evaluation of livestock business and its human resources competence.
Engineering Program
Professional Engineers in Indonesia according to UU No.11 2014 is under the organization PII (Persatuan Insinyur Indonesia) which is currently a member of world engineering organization such as World Federation of Engineering Organizations (WFEO) and ASEAN Federation of Engineering Organizations (AFEO). The competence of engineers in Indonesia based on this law can meet global needs and challenges and can compete internationally.
The professional engineering study program (PPI) is a new educational program as a mandate of UU RI No. 22 2014 concerning engineering, Universitas Gadjah Mada is one of 40 universities that were given the task of establishing PPI. The professional Animal Science UGM engineer study program of is the only one of professional animal science engineer study program in Indonesia. The Animal Science Engineer professional study program is one of the strategic steps and was established to prepare Indonesian human resources in the field of animal engineering. The Animal Husbandry Engineer Professional Study Program has been accredited by BAN-PT in 2017
