Reconstructed starting in 2021, Nurul Fikri Mosque of the Faculty of Animal Science UGM was inaugurated by the DeanFaculty of Animal Science UGM, accompanied by the Vice Rector for Planning, Assets, and Information Systems UGM (21/2). First renovated in 1995 from a prayer room at the Faculty of Animal Science, Nurul Fikri Mosque needed further development to accommodate the increasing number of academic members at the Faculty of Animal Science UGM.
In his speech, the Dean of the Faculty of Animal Science UGM, Prof. Ir. Budi Guntoro, S.Pt., M.Sc., Ph.D., IPU., ASEAN Eng., stated that the construction of the mosque and other facilities was carried out to support the vision and mission of the Faculty. “At the Faculty of Animal Science UGM, not only the mosque is built but also representative sports facilities, in line with the vision and mission of the Faculty of Animal Science, which is to produce graduates who are not only intelligent but also physically healthy and morally upright,” explained Prof. Budi Guntoro.
Also present at the inauguration of the Nurul Fikri Mosque was the Vice Rector for Planning, Assets, and Information Systems UGM, Arief Setiawan Budi Nugroho, S.T., M.Eng., Ph.D., who delivered a speech about prospering the mosque. “A grander mosque means nothing if there is no prosperity within it. The mosque is a place where young intellectuals or students, lecturers, and professors meet with the community. May this mosque bring greater blessings and benefits,” said Arief Setiawan Budi Nugroho.
The inauguration of Nurul Fikri Mosque was followed by a religious lecture by KH Duri Ashari about the virtues of prospering the mosque. The event was also attended by the local community around the Faculty of Animal Science UGM.
Located in a strategic area, the Nurul Fikri Mosque of the Faculty of Animal Science UGM is open to the public and is expected to bring blessings and benefits not only to the academic members of the Faculty but also to the surrounding community. (Secretariat/Prisil).
