FAS UGM won second place in the UGM batik fashion show competition on Saturday (1/12) at the Grha Sabha Pramana UGM organized by the Dhrama Wanita Persatuan UGM. The fashion show was represented by Renata Angganararas Cantyadati Daneswari, or familiarly called as Raras, FAS UGM student batch 2018.
“Through the batik fashion show competition with female students as the participant, hopefully the younger generation will get to know and love batik cloth as a cultural heritage and characteristic of the Indonesian nation,” said the head of the FAS UGM Dharma Wanita, Dr. Ir. Chusnul Hanim, M.Sc., IPM, when being intervewied at FAS UGM campus, Tuesday (4/12).
In the competition which was held to commemorate the 69th Anniversary of UGM, Raras demonstrated batik cloth with the gurdo motif and several other motifs. “I hope that this competition can be held in the following year so that batik is also increasingly recognized by the community, especially the younger generation,” Raras said when contacted via the short message application, Tuesday (4/12).
One day after the competition was held, on Sunday (2/12), the Dean of FAS UGM, Prof. Dr. Ir. Ali Agus, DAA., DEA., IPU., also participated in the UGM family fashion show. The Dean demonstrated the batik clothes by Griya Batik Lestari. On this occasion, Raras also had a fashion show with the other winners. (Nadia)
