Faculty of Animal Science (FAS) UGM in collaboration with the Animal Science Study Program at the Faculty of Agriculture Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) successfully held The 1st Joint Graduate Seminar on Animal Science with the theme “Current Issues of Animal Research in Southeast Asia” on 31 October 2019 to 2 November 2019 in Malaysia.
“This seminar is one of the programs to achieve the ideals of the FAS UGM as a Faculty that offers quality education with skilled graduates, possesses creativity and critical thinking skills, superior personality,” said the Vice Dean for Academic and Student Affairs of the Faculty of Animal Science, Prof. Ir. Budi Guntoro, S.Pt., M.Sc., Ph.D., IPU., ASEAN. Eng when giving a remark at the opening of the seminar.
Budi added, the seminar was aimed at maintaining good relations between the FAS UGM and UPM, increasing student mobility at the two universities, building student awareness about globalization, and discussing the latest research in Southeast Asia.
“I hope this seminar will be a good start for the upcoming joint seminar and involve graduate students from other universities in Southeast Asia,” Budi said.
Head of the FAS UGM Study Program, Ir. Nafiatul Umami, S.Pt., M.P., Ph.D., IPM., ASEAN. Eng in her release (3/11) said, the delegation from FAS UGM was 37 people consisting of 4 lecturers, 2 Doctoral Program students, 3 Animal Science Engineering students, and 1 supporting staff. Ten students will carry out oral presentations and 17 students present posters.
Nafiatul added, this activity will be routinely carried out every year with other universities and next year it is planned to be held in Thailand. (Nadia)
