A total of 65 new postgraduate students of the Faculty of Animal Science UGM for the even semester of the academic year 2022/2023 were welcomed by the Dean and the leadership team of the Faculty of Animal Science UGM during the New Postgraduate Student Introduction event at the drh. R Soepardjo Auditorium (13/2). This event also served as a socialization of the faculty’s research profiles and agendas, allowing new students to choose research areas that match their interests.
The Vice Dean for Academic Affairs and Student Affairs of the Faculty of Animal Science UGM, Ir. R. Ahmad Romadhoni Surya Putra, S.Pt., M.Sc., Ph.D., IPM., ASEAN Eng., in his report on the admission of new students, conveyed several details about the number of students, funding sources, and the curriculum taken.
The Master’s Program in Animal Science (S2) admitted 48 students, consisting of 14 students from the fast track scheme and 34 students from the regular scheme. Among the new master’s students, 45 chose the course-based curriculum, while 3 chose the research-based curriculum. The Doctoral Program in Animal Science (S3) admitted 17 students, three of whom are from Vietnam and the Philippines.
The funding sources for students are diverse, including LPDP Scholarships, Indonesian Education Scholarships from the Ministry of Education and Culture, Scholarships for Academic Higher Education Lecturers, Faculty of Animal Science UGM Scholarships, and self-funding. This indicates that many scholarships are available at the Faculty of Animal Science UGM. Starting this even semester, the faculty supports a portion of the educational costs for master’s and doctoral students of the Faculty of Animal Science UGM.
The Dean of the Faculty of Animal Science UGM, Prof. Ir. Budi Guntoro, S.Pt., M.Sc., Ph.D., IPU., ASEAN Eng., in his speech, emphasized the importance of networking and maintaining good relationships with the surrounding environment. “Studying at UGM is not just about obtaining a degree but also about developing a career after graduation. It is hoped that academic activities will continue. It is also important to prepare for both academic and non-academic challenges,” said Prof. Budi Guntoro.
One of the new student representatives expressed pride and enthusiasm for being accepted into the Faculty of Animal Science UGM, which has international accreditation and excellent facilities. With the facilities currently provided by the faculty, the learning process should become easier and more advanced. Additionally, maintaining collaboration with fellow students ensures that networks remain strong even after graduation. (Secretariat/Prisil)
