Rapid technological development especially IT must be anticipated and utilized. Therefore, the Faculty of Animal Science (FAS) UGM carries the theme of Livestock Welcoming the Industrial Age 4.0. in commemoration of the 49th anniversary.
This was revealed by the Dean of FAS UGM, Prof. Dr. Ir. Ali Agus, DAA., DEA., IPU, when opening the 49th Anniversary commemoration on Sunday (26/8) on the campus of FAS UGM. “Technology development is a necessity. We must be able to utilize especially technology in the field of animal science, not exploited by technology,” the Dean said.
The Dean added, this year, the anniversary of FAS UGM is organized simply because it would focus on the commemoration of the golden anniversary in 2019. “Next year, we prepare an international conference to realize the ideals of being the best 10 in tropical countries. Because FAS UGM has been internationally accredited, we will also prepare international prequalification students,” said the Dean.
The opening ceremony, which was packaged in the form of family gatherings, also aimed to build a sense of mutual compassion and caring among the extended family of FAS UGM, namely lecturers and education staff and their families, FAS UGM partners, and undergraduate and postgraduate students. “The spirit that is built from togetherness is to lead students to be graduates who can be proud of and relied upon because of their charm and achievements,” said the Dean. As a form of empathy for others, the moment was also used to raise aid funds for earthquake victims in Lombok.
The FAS UGM 49th anniversary chairman committee, Dr. Ir. Sigit Bintara, M.Sc., IPM, said that the Anniversary activities will be filled with a series of events. “Anniversary activities will be filled with social services, livestock contests in collaboration between FAS UGM and Kulon Progo Regency Government, sports competitions, retirement seminars, national seminars, and ended by the peak of the anniversary on November 10, 2018,” Sigit said.(Nadia)
