Elisa Christian, student of the Faculty of Animal Science (FAS) UGM batch 2018, took part in cultural exchange and community service activities in three countries, namely Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand. The activity entitled “Saudara Satu Negara” was carried out on 10-17 November 2019.
“In this activity, I attended a Community Development workshop at CoSpace Park National University of Singapore and the University of Malaya, visited a foreign cultural exchange center at the Malaysia Tourism Center (MaTic), and visited an orphanage in Thailand,” Elisa said when contacted Tuesday (3/12) at the FAS UGM campus. In the workshop, he learned about community empowerment with the potential they have.
According to the student who is familiarly called Ian, the activity that he participated in was one way to get out of the comfort zone. By joining this program, he can exchange cultures with relatives in neighboring countries. Ian also visited Indonesian citizens who migrated to the three countries as a form of concern for their nations.
“This program teaches us to care for others who still need it. At the orphanage in Thailand, we share and motivate to keep the spirit of achieving goals,” Ian said.(Nadia)
