The Faculty of Animal Science (FAS) UGM and Bank BNI are collaborating in an entrepreneurial activity entitled Student Entrepreneurial Academic Program, abbreviated as Prawiramas. Substantially, this program is not only a program to learn entrepreneurship for students, but also FAS UGM’s response to the Ministry of Education and Culture’s program namely “Merdeka Belajar dan Kampus Merdeka” (Freedom to Learn and Independent Campus).
This is not only a student business activity, but also an academic activity with the presence of a supervisor and can also be claimed as a course with a maximum of 6 credits (academic terms apply). The Prawiramas target is 50 students in each period with a maximum funding of IDR 30 million per student, so that the total funds are around IDR 1.5 billion in each period.
In the first batch of selection for the first period, the Prawiramas funds were handed over to 13 students of FAS UGM on Thursday (14/1) online. The handover was carried out symbolically by the Dean of FAS UGM and the Head of the Yogyakarta Regional Office PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk. Furthermore, the second batch will still be opened for this first period until the next two weeks (especially for students of FAS UGM).
“We are grateful that this idea has finally been realized, hopefully it will become a new milestone in cooperation between financial institutions, in this case BNI and universities, especially Faculty of Animal Science UGM to provide students with opportunities to learn entrepreneurship,” said the Dean of FAS UGM, Prof. Dr. Ir. Ali Agus, DAA., DEA., IPU., ASEAN. Eng when giving a remark at the handover ceremony.
Ali Agus explained, at Faculty of Animal Science UGM, science and industry were jointly developed so that the idea emerged to cooperate with industry and supporting systems, in this case financial institutions.
“We thank you very much, hopefully it will be a first step like a rolling snowball to motivate and arouse students’ enthusiasm, that learning is not only theoretical but also practical,” said Ali Agus.
In this program, students get a semester credit of 6 credits. This program is also a response to the implementation of the Independent-Learning Campus, namely implementing learning by doing. Students will be accompanied by a supervisor and compensated with semester credits.
The Dean also reminded students who received Prawiramas funds to be responsible because the funds provided were loans. Students are expected to be responsible for planning and practicing business, managing cash flow, setting spending priorities, managing business plans, and so on. Through this activity students are also given the opportunity to practice the spirit called Sapta Pesona Diri, namely honesty, discipline, responsibility, enthusiasm, critical thinking, courtesy, and real work.
Head of Yogyakarta Regional Office PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk., Mr. Moh. Hisyam said, this activity is expected to be a positive virus for students to play an active role in creating jobs / independent businesses that are not dependent on the government or other institutions.
“Hopefully this activity will be the first step to produce new, reliable entrepreneurs who can play an active role in building this country. Thank you to the Dean of FAS UGM who has worked together to create this project, hopefully it will be followed by other faculties so that we have more talents in the field of entrepreneurship, “said Hisyam.
Secretary for Learning and Cooperation, Directorate of Education and Teaching UGM, dr. Yanri Wijayanti Subronto, Ph.D., Sp.PD-KPTI, FINASIM who was also present at the event said, UGM welcomed the program.
“This program makes students proud because they have undertaken entrepreneurial activities when they are still students, not when they graduate. This will be a historical leap in the world of education,” said Yanri.
Yanri added that students who receive funds in this program will become pioneers and setting points for other students and juniors. This program may also be something new for the supervisor. Lecturers also learn from students so that cooperation like this is something good. (Nadia)
