As a relatively young faculty compared to other faculties at UGM, Faculty of Animal Science UGM continues to push forward and advance education. The results have been fruitful, with various achievements and accolades earned by the Faculty. Faculty of Animal Science UGM is also noted as one of the faculties contributing the most professors at UGM, accounting for 30 percent.
“In terms of age, Fapet is the youngest. We are also among the lower in terms of budget. However, when it comes to achievements, we are not lagging behind,” said the Dean of Fapet UGM, Prof. Ir. Budi Guntoro, S.Pt., M.Sc., Ph.D., IPU., ASEAN Eng., during a hearing with students on Friday (June 21).
Budi added that despite the budget limitations, Faculty of Animal Science UGM continues to collaborate with many partners and industries. The goal is to facilitate students with internships and job placements through these partnerships.
“This year, our tuition fees did not increase even though the operational costs are still lacking. Therefore, we continue to establish many partnerships through various projects, ultimately to facilitate students,” he explained.
Accompanied by faculty officials, department heads, and program directors, Budi agreed that hearings or discussions with students should continue as a means of communication and unifying perspectives. He also hopes that students will continue to develop ideas towards national development, especially since the vision and mission of the elected President and Vice President will closely align with livestock issues, including the national milk demand.
In addition to budget issues, other topics discussed during the hearing included campus security and supporting infrastructure.
