To equalize the perceptions of the livestock engineer profession, the Faculty of Animal Science (FAS) UGM held a Biosciences Engineering Workshop on Friday (3/23) at the FAS UGM campus. With this workshop, it is hoped that animal science engineers can proceed simultaneously.
“The presence of a profession is mandated to complete tasks that are partly charged to it, namely the provision of food. To be optimal, engineering, and other factors are needed. In this workshop priority topics will be made related to several aspects of the organization of engineers,” said the Chairman of the Vocational Animal Science Engineering Department as well as the Dean of the Faculty of Animal Science, Prof. Dr. Ir. Ali Agus, DAA., DEA., IPU.
Ali added, from this workshop it was hoped that a series of discussions would be formed to design programs that were grounded to the community, for example, the supply of eggs and milk.
“In the Persatuan Insinyur Indonesia (PII), there are 23 Vocational Bodies that are expected to work together. Hopefully, this large container is effective and communication is intensive. It is expected to arrive at a more operational stage with a relatively visible time frame so that our presence as PII members appears,” Ali added.
Secretary of the Animal Science Engineering Vocational Agency and Dean of the Faculty of Animal Science, Universitas Brawijaya, Prof. Dr. Sc. Agr. Ir. Suyadi, MS., IPU said, the workshop will focus on matters related to strengthening the study program of engineers.
“Some of the things we will discuss include how food production and specific environmental safeguards, the lag time from fresh graduates to engineer study programs, and the career path of someone who is taking an engineering study program,” Suyadi said. (Nadia).
