Faculty of Animal Science (FAS) UGM and the Board of Regional Development Planning and Development Research of West Bangka Regency collaborated in the Studies of Innovation and Technology Development on Potency Inventory and Design and Development of Livestock Development in West Bangka Regency. The signing of the cooperation agreement was held on Thursday (21/2) at FAS UGM campus.
“This cooperation is carried out in order that Bangka Barat Regency has a study base that can be used to make livestock development policies,” said Dean of FAS UGM, Prof. Dr. Ir. Ali Agus, DAA., DEA., IPU after the signing of the cooperation agreement.
The Dean added, there are many agendas that can be prepared in the future related to livestock technology studies in Bangka Barat in the context of developing livestock in the area.
“FAS UGM will send researchers and research instruments to study the development of the farm. The studies will be carried out for 5 months,” said the Dean.
Vice Dean for Research, Community Service and Collaboratrion, Ir. Bambang Suwignyo, S.Pt., M.P., Ph.D., IPM, on the same occasion said that there are several sectors that allow the field of livestock to enter and provide solutions, including sources of animal protein (food) and reclamation of former tin mining land.
“For things related to food, this is a common thing, it can be implemented in any area. For mining reclamation, in order that the land can be returned to productive use for agricultural activities, it needs special treatment. Bangka Barat is a tin mining area, with lots of ex-mining land that has not yet been cultivated into productive agriculture. This is an opportunity for livestock to enter with its technology,” Bambang said. (Nadia)
