The Faculty of Animal Science (FAS) UGM collaborates with the Directorate General of Small and Medium Industry to hold technical training (Bimtek) on goat milk processing from September 25-29, 2018 at FAS UGM. This activity is intended for Small and Medium Industries (SME) entrepreneurs in Yogyakarta.
“Through this activity, we strive to contribute to the livestock sector according to their respective roles. Thank you to the IKM owners who support the goat milk business so that it can be a driving force for the growth of the goat milk business,” said Vice Dean for Research, Community Service and Collaboration, Bambang Suwignyo, S.Pt., MP, Ph.D when opening the event on Tuesday (25/9) at FAS UGM.
Although not as big as the cow’s milk business, Bambang is optimistic that the goat’s milk business will develop because they have their own segment. “Hopefully this cooperation brings benefits,” he said.
Secretary of the Director General of Small and Medium Industries, Ir. Eddy Siswanto, MAM said, the technical guidance aims to increase the SME business owners, especially the dairy business. “The government is targeting up to 20,000 SME business owners within a period of 5 years,” he said.
Eddy added, for businesses in the field of processing, things that need to be considered are Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP). “The things that must be considered include packaging and good raw materials,” he said. To develop SME, students are expected to help, for example in terms of promotion through social media.
The chief executive of technical activities, Prof. Dr. Ir. Tridjoko Wisnu Murti, DEA, said that the technical training was filled with the theory of the process of milk production, milk quality, processing techniques, and evaluation. “Hopefully the progress of SME business owners will become more real and highly competitive,” said the lecturer at the Laboratory of Dairy and Industrial Sciences.
