Faculty of Animal Science (FAS) UGM cooperates with the Wajo Regency Government, South Sulawesi. The cooperation carried out is in the field of livestocks.
“FAS UGM has signed an MoU with the Wajo Regency Government. We will work together on the integrated farming system which is expected to become a locomotive in the rural areas. Today’s meeting is a follow-up to the MoU,” said the Dean of FAS UGM, Prof. Dr. Ir. Ali Agus, DAA., DEA., IPU when receiving the Wajo Regent’s visit on Friday (26/4) at the FAS UGM campus.
Regent of Wajo, Dr. H. Amran Mahmud, S. Sos., M.Sc, said that Wajo Regency has several potentials, including livestocks, plantation, and fisheries.
“Wajo dreams of becoming a meat barn that can be a solution to meat imports. The Wajo Regency Government has echoed to the community to carry out livestock, especially the poor. In addition to livestock, Wajo also has 100,035 ha of rice fields, which are the third largest rice field in Indonesia,” said Regent of Wajo.
At the end of the remark, the Dean stated that FAS UGM is ready to support the Wajo Regency Government program for the integrated farming system program. (Nadia)
