In order to meet the industry’s need for quality human resources, the Faculty of Animal Science (FAS) UGM organizes the Work-Based Academy (WBA) program, a work learning program in collaboration with PT Widodo Makmur Perkasa (WMP).
“To bring the academic and industrial world closer, we formulate this program so that the livestock graduates will steadily run in the industrial world,” said the Dean of FAS UGM, Prof. Dr. Ir. Ali Agus, DAA., DEA., IPU, when opening the in-class WBA program training, Monday (1/10) at FAS UGM.
The Dean added, this program will bring two benefits to participants. “First, participants will get inspiration about the industrial world. Second, when applying for a job, the experience of joining this program will be a consideration,” explained the Dean in front of 24 participants of the in-class training program.
WBA program participants are selected in 3 stages, namely file selection, interview, and in-class training for 1 week. Participants who pass the in-class training will learn to work at PT Widodo Makmur Perkasa for 3 months. “If qualified, he/she will be recruited as PT WMP staff. For that, we need the fighting spirit and activity of the participants,” said the Dean.
The President Director of PT Widodo Makmur Perkasa, H. Raden Marlan, said that college graduates are required to have superior competencies so that they can work optimally and give new colors in the industry. “The graduates’ competencies needed by the company must keep up with the latest issue, especially when they enter the era of disruption (industry 4.0) which requires the industry to continue to innovate,” he said when presenting the profile of PT WMP in the event.
