“After going through the selection process, our paper was chosen to be presented at the forum. Our paper discusses entrepreneurs as the most important subject in developing a nation. Indonesia’s young generation is 24.5% of the total population of 252 million. This is an opportunity to empower the younger generation as entrepreneurs,” said Muhammad Khoerul Fadhli, who was contacted at FAS UGM campus on Tuesday (18/12).
The student, familiarly called Erul, added that the number of entrepreneurs in Indonesia is still very low, which is around 3.1%, compared to other countries in Southeast Asia such as Malaysia (5%) and Singapore (7%). According to Erul, a concrete step in becoming an entrepreneur is taking action from the existing thoughts.
“There are seven ways to foster an entrepreneurial spirit, namely growing financial intelligence from the start, introducing and creating business opportunities, fostering enthusiasm for creating things, turning hobbies into business, growing motivation from profiles of successful entrepreneurs, caring for the environment, and not fearing failure,” said Erul is also the CEO of Yogya Milk House.
According to Erul, entrepreneurs are people who run businesses that provide assistance to others. “There are several skills that must be possessed by an entrepreneur, namely the ability to overcome problems, be able to think critically, have creativity, be able to manage human resources, be able to coordinate, have emotional intelligence, be able to make decisions in various situations, service-oriented, have negotiation skills, and have the ability to think flexibly,” explained Erul.
Erul, who are active in entrepreneurial activities explain, there are some parties who can support young generation entrepreneurs, namely the government, investors, universities, successful entrepreneurs, and the young generation themselves. (Nadia)
