The record for consumption of the most klathak satay in the world was finally successfully broken by the Faculty of Animal Science (FAS) Universitas Gadjah Mada on the campus yard, Sunday morning (10/11).

The number of satay klathak and people involved is a symbol of the birth date of the FAS UGM, which is November 10, 1969.
“Coinciding with Heroes’ Day, FAS UGM was born 50 years ago. Coinciding with this day of the hero we emulate the spirit of sacrifice of the heroes of independence. Today we are promoting food sources of animal protein in the form of satay klathak. When the consumption of goat meat increases, it will attract farmer wagons and the participating businesses to develop. This effort is a hero in the field of food to educate the nation’s children and improve the welfare of livestock entrepreneurs, especially goats and sheep,” Ali Agus welcomed.
After doing the direct count, The Indonesia Record Museum (MURI) Senior Manager, Ariani Siregar, said that this record had been successfully registered at the Indonesian Record Museum with number 9286. “We really appreciate that today we officially record it as a world record for its role as the initiator and organizer of the 10,011 satay dish. The skewer was consumed by 1,969 people. This record adds to a series of world records recorded by UGM before,” she said. MURI record certificate was handed over to Ali Agus, accompanied by Rector of UGM, Prof. Ir. Panut Mulyono, M.Eng, D.Eng, IPU, ASEAN. Eng.
Chair committee of the Gebyar Lustrum X FAS UGM, Dr. Ir. Endy Triyannanto, S.Pt, M.Eng, IPM, ASEAN.Eng stated that actually the satay provided was actually far more, namely 11,000 sticks, and the number of participants also reached 2,500 people. Goats and sheep that are cut to make as many as 50 satay tails, processed by 10 satay traders. The committee cooperated with the Yogyakarta Goat and Sheep Breeders Association (PPKDY) to supply live meat and goats/sheep.
He explained, this event was also a promotion of consumption of mutton and lamb meat to erode the wrong perception about these two types of meat. “It is wrong to say that goat meat and lamb can make people who consume it affected by high blood pressure. High blood pressure is a complex factor, it is not possible just because it consumes goat/lamb meat. Goat/lamb meat is a good source of animal protein, as long as it is cooked properly and consumed in reasonable quantities,” he said.
Panut Mulyono conveyed that the record-breaking was a proud for UGM. Regarding the golden anniversary of FAS UGM, we wish you a happy birthday and at this mature age more and more presenting achievements and contributing to the university and even more to the nation and country. “This is the second prize for UGM in the atmosphere of Hero’s Day this time, after last November 7 Prof. Dr. dr. Sardjito has been officially appointed by the state to be a national hero, ” he said.
