Faculty of Animal Science (FAS) UGM will open pre-international classes for students start from the 2018 student batch in the even semester of the 2018/2019 academic year. This is in line with Fapet UGM’s vision to be one of the best 10 faculties in tropical countries in the field of animal science in the next 5 years.

“With the opening of pre-international classes, it is expected that it will further strengthen itself as one of the centers of excellence in the field of tropical animal science and technology development that should be disseminated to the international community through world-class science education and livestock industry (world-class faculty of animal science),” said the Dean of FAS UGM, Prof. Dr. Ir. Ali Agus, DAA., DEA., IPU, when contacted on Sunday (9/12).

Vice Dean for Academic and Student Affairs FAS UGM, Prof. Ir. Budi Guntoro, S.Pt., M.Sc., Ph.D., IPU when met at the FAS UGM campus on Wednesday (5/12), said that the pre-international class is a preparation to open the International Undergraduate Program (IUP) for the Animal Science and Industry undergraduate study program. “This preparation will see how far FAS UGM in preparing human resources, facilities, and learning systems,” he said.

Budi added, the pre-international class will be opened considering that FAS UGM had received several national and international recognition, namely ISO 9001-2008, ISO 9001-2000, accredited A from BAN PT, AUN 2013 certificate, ASIIN 2018 international accreditation, active involvement in Southeast Asia Network of Animal Science (SEANAS) networking, Asian Association of Agricultural Colleges and Universities (AAACU), and ASEAN Agriculture University Network (AAUN).

Previously, in the socialization of the pre-international class for student batch 2018, Tuesday (4/12) at the Drh. R. Soepardjo Auditorium of FAS UGM, Budi said that FAS UGM will open pre-international classes for all faculty compulsory subjects.

“So, there will be parallel classes in addition to the existing regular classes. The requirement is to have a minimum TOEFL score of 400, a minimum GPA of 3, and fill in a letter of willingness. “Lecture materials will be delivered in English,” he said.

In addition to the pre-international class, Budi said that FAS UGM also has a twin program with Chungnam National University (CNU). This program lasts for 2 semesters and is intended for students who have taken semester 5.

“The grade point obtained at CNU is recognized in FAS UGM and vice versa, provided that the students graduate at both universities,” he said before closing the socialization event. (Nadia)
