The Alumni Family of the Faculty of Animal Science UGM (Kapgama) invites alumni and partners to help students who are vulnerable to the COVID-19 virus, especially those from the Bidikmisi program. Through the Kpagama Beramal program, Kapgama will distribute assistance in the form of food and rice packages to students.
“Increasing solidarity among fellow human is very important in difficult times such as the impact of COVID-19 that we are facing together. The Dean added, the spirit of sharing needs to be developed, not just sharing information (click-sharing), but sharing experiences, sharing time, sharing energy, thoughts and sharing mutual assistance to help others who are in need,” said the Dean of the Faculty of Animal Science (FAS), Prof. Dr. Ali Agus, DAA., DEA., IPU., ASEAN. The Dean added, due to economic limitations, many students might not go home and have to stay at boarding houses, have limited pocket money, need credit for online study, and also need food reserves.
“When we were in college we might have felt that life was limited. Therefore, let’s share and care for others to alleviate the burdens of their lives that are urgently needed,” said the Dean.
Ir. Achmad Dawami as the head of Kapgama said, until Tuesday, March 31, 2020, the funds collected were as much as Rp.49,735,088.00. After going through the screening process, there are a total of 99 students who really need help.
“Today, nine basic food packages will be distributed to 76 students, rice packets for 23 students, and internet package assistance for 3 students who work in cages because internal WiFi is turned off,” Dawami said when contacted Tuesday (31/3).
Ir. Dyah Maharani, S.Pt., MP, Ph.D., IPM., as the person in charge of the activity said that the food packages were prepared by Plaza Agro and will be distributed in four points, namely region 1 (Pogung), region 2 (Sendowo, Terban , Blimbingsari), region 3 (Jetis and Godean), and region 4 (Koperasi Fapet).
“Assistance will be distributed by volunteers who have received an assignment letter from the Dean of FAS UGM. To anticipate the risk of transmission of COVID-19, volunteers will wear a minimum standard personal protective equipment in the form of gloves, masks, raincoats, and hand sanitizers. Both packing officers and volunteers must pay attention and conduct 1 meter physical distancing,” said Dyah. (Nadia)
