Postgraduate Program Students of Faculty of Animal Science (FAS) UGM, Hamdani Maulana, successfully won the best paper award at the International Conference on Green Agro-Industry and Bioeconomy (ICGAB) in Universitas Brawijaya, September 18-19, 2018.
“The article I presented about the potential use of oil palm plantations as a cattle grazing area. So far, oil palm plantations are still considered as an agro-industry sector that reduces national forest land area and has an impact on land biodiversity reduction, which has caused conflict and rejection from several parties,” Hamdani said.
He added, the presence of cows in oil palm plantations can be a buffer because they can increase biodiversity. “Thus, it is hoped that the palm oil industry is more acceptable and creates sustainable green agro industry,” he said.
Hamdani hopes that the article he compiled can provide new insights on the development of oil palm plantation businesses and the application of livestock maintenance management in the garden area.
