The Doctoral Program in Animal Science at the Faculty of Animal Science UGM held an Open Doctoral Promotion Examination for the candidate Dewi Ratih Ayu Daning (20/3). Dean Faculty of Animal Science, Prof. Ir. Budi Guntoro, S.Pt., M.Sc., Ph.D., IPU., ASEAN Eng., acted as the chairman of the open session. The Promoter was Prof. Dr. Ir. Lies Mira Yusiati, SU., IPU., ASEAN Eng., and the Co-Promoters were Dr. Ir. Chusnul Hanim, M.Si., IPM., ASEAN Eng., and Prof. Dr. Ir. Budi Prasetyo Widyobroto, DESS., DEA., IPU., ASEAN Eng. The assessment team was chaired by Prof. Dr. Ir. Budi Prasetyo Widyobroto, DESS., DEA., IPU., ASEAN Eng., and the members included Ir. Muhlisin, S.Pt., M.Agri., Ph.D., IPP, and Ir. Yustina Yuni Suranindyah, M.S., Ph.D., IPM. The internal examiners for this session were Prof. Dr. Ir. Ali Agus, DAA., DEA., IPU., ASEAN Eng., and the external examiner was Dr. Ir. Setya Budhi Udrayana S.Pt., M.Si., IPM.
SDGS GOAL 4: QUALITY EDUCATION
A total of 65 new postgraduate students of the Faculty of Animal Science UGM for the even semester of the academic year 2022/2023 were welcomed by the Dean and the leadership team of the Faculty of Animal Science UGM during the New Postgraduate Student Introduction event at the drh. R Soepardjo Auditorium (13/2). This event also served as a socialization of the faculty’s research profiles and agendas, allowing new students to choose research areas that match their interests.
The Vice Dean for Academic Affairs and Student Affairs of the Faculty of Animal Science UGM, Ir. R. Ahmad Romadhoni Surya Putra, S.Pt., M.Sc., Ph.D., IPM., ASEAN Eng., in his report on the admission of new students, conveyed several details about the number of students, funding sources, and the curriculum taken.
Along with the increasing consumption of eggs due to population growth, causing breeders to find ways to maximize livestock productivity. One of the laying hen farming techniques commonly used so far is the battery-cage farming system where the livestock can move freely in the cage. In addition to this system, there is now a new system that allows poultry to move more freely, namely the cage-free farming system. Cage-free farming system does not use cages, thus allowing livestock to live like in the wild according to their natural habitat. In developed countries, poultry farmers have started to switch to using the cage-free system because it is considered to be pro-animal welfare.
A total of 70 Animal Husbandry Engineers were inaugurated by the Dean of the UGM Faculty of Animal Science at the Inauguration ceremony (Odd Semester 2022/2023) which was held offline at Ghra Sabha Pramana, together with 422 engineers from the UGM Faculty of Engineering who were inaugurated by the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering UGM, as well as 53 engineers from the Faculty of Forestry UGM who were inaugurated by the Dean of the UGM Faculty of Forestry (10/1).
In this inauguration ceremony, 70 engineers were inaugurated from the Faculty of Animal Husbandry UGM, consisting of 4 engineers from the regular track and 66 engineers from the RPL track. The highest GPA for the RPL was achieved by Akhmad Sodiq with a GPA of 3.98. Meanwhile, the highest GPA from the regular track was achieved by Muhammad Zainal Abidin and Yogi Sidik Prasojo, who achieved a GPA of 3.98. Thus, the total number of Animal Science Engineer graduates from Faculty of Animal Science UGM is 520 alumni.
