SLEMAN, KRJOGJA.com – Eid al-Adha is encouraged by Muslims to sacrifice for others in the form of cows or goats. However, so far people are still trapped using open plastic bags to pack sacrificial meat which turns out to be susceptible to bacterial contamination.
Food packaging expert Faculty of Animal Science (FAS) UGM, Dr. Ir. Endy Triyannanto, S.Pt., M.Eng, IPM said that people should choose plastic adhesive which is far more practical and safe. Not only the safety side of meat, the use of adhesive plastic according to him also makes meat packaging more attractive with labeling.
“Adhesive plastic bags are a safe, practical, affordable, and more attractive choice. With adhesive, meat can avoid direct contact with sunlight, dust and the risk of spillage when distributed. PA / PE plastics and sealer machines are also easily available on the market,” Endy said Tuesday (08/21/2018).
Regarding labeling, it is aimed that the meat packaging provides detailed information to the recipient of both the name of the mosque offering the sacrificial meat, the type of meat, the weight of the meat, and the suggestion of storage. “This information will greatly help the community, improve packaging functions, and help provide information on packaging products,” said the lecturer who graduated from Gangneung-Wonju National University.
