Universitas Gadjah Mada and Maejo University, Thailand, have signed an agreement to enhance education and research.
Signing of a Memorandum of Understanding was done by Rector of UGM, Prof. Ir. Panut Mulyono, M.Eng., Ph.D., and Acting President of Maejo University, Associate Professor Dr. Weerapon Thongma, at UGM on Tuesday (23/7). The agreement covers exchange of student, staff, and lecturer, as well as collaboration in staff development and research.
Weerapon Thongma said the agreement signing was to extend and expand the collaboration already in place with UGM.
“We have collaborated with Faculty of Animal Science for over 10 years and this MoU is to extend the collaboration and expand to other faculties,” he said.
He hoped the agreed collaboration would run well and hence benefits both parties. Meanwhile, Panut Mulyono appreciated Maejo University for their collaboration with UGM. He said having collaborations with Southeast Asian universities was important as it can encourage ASEAN economic growth to improve ASEAN welfare.
“Collaboration with ASEAN universities is a must. We are happy to have this collaboration with Maejo University that is expected to improve their contribution to their respective countries,” said Panut.
Furthermore, Panut expected the collaboration would also expand to research and other academic activities. “Hopefully, going forward we can collaborate not only in undergraduate but also graduate programme,” he said.
Also attending the event were the leadership of several universities in Malaysia, Thailand, and Malaysia, and UGM, and Dean of Faculty of Animal Science UGM, Prof. Ali Agus.
