Three students from the International Undergraduate Program (IUP) in Animal Science and Industry at the UGM Faculty of Animal Science, specifically from the Class of 2021, participated in an MBKM internship program at the Sumiyoshi Livestock Station, Miyazaki University, Japan, from mid-May to mid-August 2024. The students are Alma Zhahira Elvaretta Wibawa, Radedya Wardhana Putra, and Muhammad Yazida Rizky.
Before their departure on May 14, they received a briefing on Monday (13/5) from the Dean of the Faculty of Animal Science, Prof. Ir. Budi Guntoro, M.Sc., Ph.D., I.P.U., ASEAN Eng.; the Head of the Animal Science and Industry Study Program, Ir. Tri Satya Mastuti Widi, S.Pt., MP., M.Sc., Ph.D., IPM., ASEAN Eng.; the Secretary of the Study Program, Ir. Muhlisin, S.Pt., M.Agri., Ph.D., IPP.; and the Faculty’s Domestic Cooperation Coordinator, Ir. Yogi Sidik Prasojo, S.Pt., M.Agr., Ph.D., IPP.
Tri Satya Mastuti noted that there are 11 IUP undergraduate students from the Faculty of Animal Science Class of 2021 participating in internships or student exchange programs across various countries. The distribution includes five students in Japan, two in Australia, one in Thailand, two in South Korea, and one in the Netherlands.
“This internship at Miyazaki University is a manifestation of the long-standing cooperation between the Faculty of Animal Science at UGM and Miyazaki University; it marks the first time the IUP Class of 2021 has participated in this specific internship program. This ‘International Exposure’ program takes various forms, including internships and student exchanges, such as those in South Korea, the Netherlands, Thailand, and Australia,” explained Mastuti.
The Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Budi Guntoro, expressed his hope that the students would make the most of the internship opportunity to gain experience and enhance their personal capabilities. “Continue to take care of your health and uphold UGM’s reputation while you are there,” the Dean advised.
Speaking on behalf of her two colleagues, Alma Zhahira expressed both happiness and pride in having the opportunity to undertake an internship at Miyazaki University. She hopes that this internship will allow her to gain further experience and knowledge in the field of animal science, which she is currently studying.
