The Faculty of Animal Science Universitas Gadjah Mada (Fapet UGM) held its annual New Doctoral Graduates Seminar on October 8. The scientific forum served as a platform to recognize academic achievements and disseminate research findings from faculty members who had recently completed their doctoral studies.

Efforts to promote the downstream development of Indonesia’s dairy industry should not focus solely on building and increasing the capacity of milk processing facilities. Strengthening the upstream sector, particularly smallholder dairy farming, must take place simultaneously to ensure that rising industrial demand translates into increased domestic milk production.

The Livestock Development Center (Pusat Pengembangan Ternak, or PPT) of the Faculty of Animal Science Universitas Gadjah Mada (Fapet UGM) introduced the Farm Tourism Holiday program in mid-2026 as an educational livestock experience for children. Ir. Tian Jihadhan Wankar, S.Pt., M.Sc., Ph.D., IPP., Head of the Fapet UGM Livestock Development Center, said that the program had been held twice, on June 13 and July 11, 2026.

“Going forward, Farm Tourism Holiday will be held regularly once a month on Saturdays, adopting a learning-by-doing concept,” Tian said on Tuesday (21/7). read more

The Faculty of Animal Science Universitas Gadjah Mada (Fapet UGM) once again held its annual outbound and tourism activity, attended by faculty members and educational staff on Friday–Saturday (July 17–18). This year, the group visited the Nepal Van Java tourist area in Magelang Regency and the Bandungan area in Semarang Regency, including the Taman Bunga Celosia flower garden.

The annual activity served as an opportunity to strengthen relationships, foster a sense of camaraderie, and build team spirit among the Fapet UGM community. The Faculty of Animal Science Universitas Gadjah Mada (Fapet UGM) has expressed readiness to actively support the downstreaming of research and innovation initiatives led by the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Indonesia. This commitment was demonstrated through the participation of Fapet UGM leadership in a meeting between Minister of Agriculture Andi Amran Sulaiman and UGM’s agro-cluster academic community, held in Jakarta on Monday (29/6).

Fapet UGM was represented by Dean Prof. Budi Guntoro; Vice Dean for Research, Community Service, and Partnerships Prof. Yuny Erwanto; Vice Dean for Academic and Student Affairs Prof. Nafi’atul Umami; as well as Prof. Panjono, Prof. Bambang Suwignyo, and Prof. Dyah Maharani. The meeting, attended by UGM’s rector, deans, professors, researchers, lecturers, and students, served as a platform to strengthen synergy between higher education institutions and the government in accelerating innovation in the agriculture and livestock sectors toward sustainable food self-sufficiency. read more
