With the theme Multidisciplinary Approach: Essential for Sustainable Environment-Friendly Development, the UGM Faculty of Animal Husbandry is again holding a Summer Course in 2022. This activity will be held online on 12-26 July 2022 and will be followed by 127 participants from 8 countries.

First of its kind in Indonesia and Southeast Asia , Hub consists of an international training centre & model farm for cage-free egg production and management

A Groundbreaking Ceremony was held on 7 June in Kalijeruk, Yogyakarta, Indonesia to celebrate the commencement of the building of the Hub. As the 7^th largest egg producer in the world, Indonesian farmers are seeking support in cage-free production, in order to stay competitive and meet the increasing demand for cage-free eggs in Indonesia and across Asia. GFP’s recent producer needs assessment survey found that egg farmers in Indonesia need support from experts on how to transition from conventional cage systems to cage-free production, with higher levels of welfare. The Work Based Academy, a work and study program initiated by the Faculty of Animal Science (Fapet) UGM and PT Charoen Pokphand Indonesia, Tbk is expected to be a breakthrough in producing skilled and excellent human resources in livestock. This program will be held again in November 2020—April 2021.

This was stated by the Dean of Fapet UGM, Prof. Dr. Ir Ali Agus, DAA., DEA., IPU., ASEAN Eng. as the originator of the WBA program when contacted on Monday (1/2).

“Based on the projections of the International Labor Organization (ILO) and BAPPENAS in 2020, Indonesia still lacks experts in various industrial sectors. Only 10.7% or 13.4 million people included into the expert category out of 126.4 million workers. In fact, Indonesia is the largest labor provider in ASEAN,” said Ali. read more

The Covid-19 pandemic is known to pose a risk to the community of smallholder named Margo Mulyo in Gunungkidul, especially in terms of marketing and social interaction with fellow farmers. During the pandemic, cows experienced a decrease in selling prices and direct interaction between farmers was hampered due to social distancing. However, this does not have a major impact on the livestock business they run.

56 livestock engineers were inaugurated on Wednesday (19/1) online and offline at the University Club Hotel together with engineers from the UGM Faculty of Engineering. Among the 56 engineers, 17 people came from the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste.

“We congratulate all the inauguration participants. Through the engineer program, participants not only get “two in one” but “four in one”, namely obtaining an engineer’s degree, a professional engineer certificate, an Engineer Registration Certificate (STRI), and a Kagama card. Hopefully these 4 things will lead us to dedicate ourselves to our professions in our respective institutions in order to advance public welfare, educate the nation’s life, give value to benefits, goodness, and civility throughout the country for the welfare of mankind.
