SMK 3 Madiun Once Again Sends Students for Field Work Practice at UGM Faculty of Animal Science

The Faculty of Animal Science at UGM has once again welcomed students from SMK Negeri 3 Madiun for a Field Work Practice (PKL) program. This initiative represents an ongoing collaboration between vocational secondary education and higher education aimed at enhancing students’ skills and their readiness for the workforce.

“We hope the students will gain a broader range of experiences. While they previously undertook internships in the industrial sector, this opportunity offers a more comprehensive experience within a university setting,” said Bayu Faliandra, S.T., a supervising teacher from SMK 3 Madiun, during the handover of the students at the Faculty of Animal Science on Monday (6/10). read more

The PhylloZinc Team Offers Green-Synthesized ZnO Nanoparticles as a Low-Toxicity Ruminant Feed Additive to Curb Global Methane Emissions

The livestock industry, while a primary source of animal protein, faces significant challenges regarding global warming due to high methane (CH₄) emissions. According to the Global Methane Initiative (2025), this sector accounts for 2,614.42 MMTCO₂e, or 33% of total global CH₄ emissions, surpassing the oil and gas industry. Over 20 years, the impact of CH₄ on global warming has been recorded as 80 times greater than that of CO₂. Beyond environmental pollution, these emissions also result in economic losses for livestock farmers; ruminants can produce 250-500 liters of CH₄ daily, representing a loss of 3-17% of dietary energy. read more

UGM Faculty of Animal Science Students Happy to Receive Free Eggs During Midterm Exams

The Faculty of Animal Science at UGM is once again distributing free eggs to students taking their Odd Semester Midterm Exams from October 6 to 14, 2025. Nurma Diani, S.Pd., MBA., Head of the Administrative Office at the Faculty of Animal Science at UGM, emphasized that this initiative demonstrates the faculty’s care and commitment to student well-being beyond academics.

UGM Faculty of Animal Science 56ᵗʰ Anniversary: ​​Promoting Functional Animal-Based Foods Towards Golden Indonesia 2045

The Faculty of Animal Science at UGM officially launched its 56ᵗʰ  anniversary celebrations on Friday (3/10). The opening event began with a fun walk and run, starting from the Faculty of Animal Science complex and following a route through the UGM campus.

To mark the start of the anniversary commemorations, the Dean of the Faculty of Animal Science, Prof. Ir. Budi Guntoro, S.Pt., M.Sc., Ph.D., IPU., ASEAN Eng., accompanied by the faculty leadership team and the organizing committee, symbolically struck a gong and released 56 birds. read more

UGM Faculty of Animal Science PhD Student Serves as MC for PMDSU Cohort IX Scholarship Recipients’ Orientation

Yesita Vera Saraswati and Dio Fico Felsidan Diatmono, doctoral students from the UGM Faculty of Animal Science, had the opportunity to serve as masters of ceremony (MCs) for the orientation event for the 9th cohort of the PMDSU (Master’s to Doctoral Education for Superior Bachelors) scholarship program. Both are PMDSU scholarship recipients from earlier cohorts; Yesita belongs to Cohort VI, while Dio is from Cohort VII. They were invited by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Kemdiktisaintek), specifically the Director of Resources, to host the orientation program, which took place from September 15 to 17, 2025, at the Kemdiktisaintek Ballroom and the Mangkuluhur Artotel Suites in Jakarta. read more
