Dean Confers Degrees to 12 Postgraduate Graduates

The Dean of the Faculty of Animal Science Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), Prof. Ir. Budi Guntoro, S.Pt., M.Sc., Ph.D., IPU, ASEAN Eng., officially conferred degrees to 12 new postgraduate graduates for the 2024/2025 academic year during a ceremony held on Thursday (January 23). The graduates comprised eight master’s degree recipients and four doctoral degree recipients. Head of the Doctoral Programme, Prof. Ir. Ambar Pertiwiningrum, M.Si., Ph.D., IPM, ASEAN Eng., highlighted that with this graduation, the Faculty has produced a total of 1,004 master’s graduates and 163 doctoral graduates as of December 2024. The average GPA of the master’s programme graduates was an impressive 3.91, while the doctoral programme graduates achieved an even higher average of 3.99. The typical study duration for master’s students was one year and eight months, while doctoral candidates averaged three years and eight months. The best graduate of this cohort was Muhammad Nidhomun Ni’am, S.Pt., M.Sc., who achieved a remarkable GPA of 3.97 and completed his studies in just one year, four months, and four days.

In his address, Prof. Ir. Budi Guntoro encouraged the graduates to swiftly integrate into society and apply the knowledge they have acquired. He emphasized the challenges awaiting them, including contributing to the success of community welfare programs like the free nutritious meal initiative.

“Learning not only requires academic excellence but also emotional intelligence and adaptability,” Prof. Budi remarked.

He further urged the graduates to tackle pressing issues, such as addressing the scarcity of raw materials for meat and milk production, overcoming land and climate change constraints, and contributing to efforts to control outbreaks like Foot and Mouth Disease. The ceremony underscored the Faculty’s commitment to producing graduates capable of making meaningful contributions to society and addressing global challenges.

Faculty of Animal Science UGM and BRIN Establish Cooperation in Research on Technology and Processed Animal Products

Faculty of Animal Science UGM and the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) signed a Cooperation Agreement (PKS) on Monday (August 19) at Faculty of Animal Science. The signing ceremony was attended by the Dean Faculty of Animal Science UGM, Prof. Ir. Budi Guntoro, S.Pt., M.Sc., Ph.D., IPU., ASEAN Eng., and the Head of the Center for Research on Technology and Food Processing of BRIN’s Agricultural and Food Research Organization, Satriyo Krido Wahono, Ph.D. The focus of the cooperation is research on technology and food processing for the development of processed animal products. read more

UGM Community Service Programs Empowers Maluku Communities

In 2024, UGM dispatched 7,126 students to serve Community Service Programs to various regions across Indonesia, from Sabang to Merauke. As the oldest national university, UGM embodies the spirit of national unity. The progran aligns with Gajah Mada’s spirit of unifying the archipelago. Hence, the Community Service Programs, which is an academic activity, also carries the spirit of UGM as a unifying force for Indonesia. In contemporary terms, this is known as nationalism.

One of the Community Service Programs groups, out of more than 7,000 students sent by UGM, was placed in Air Buaya District, Buru Regency, Maluku Province. Thirty students were assigned to three villages: Air Buaya, Waemangit, and Waepure, with each village receiving 10 students. They were supervised by the Field Supervisor, Prof. Dr. Ir. Bambang Suwignyo, S.Pt, MP, IPM, ASEAN Eng from Faculty of Animal Science UGM. read more

Graduates of the Faculty of Animal Science UGM should contribute their ideas to the development of national food. This was emphasized by the Dean Faculty of Animal Science UGM, Prof. Ir. Budi Guntoro, S.Pt., M.Sc., Ph.D., IPU., ASEAN Eng., during his speech at the Graduation Ceremony for the Postgraduate Program for the Fourth Period in Academic Year 2023/2024 on Wednesday (7/24).
