Elisa Christian, student of the Faculty of Animal Science (FAS) UGM batch 2018, took part in cultural exchange and community service activities in three countries, namely Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand. The activity entitled “Saudara Satu Negara” was carried out on 10-17 November 2019.

“In this activity, I attended a Community Development workshop at CoSpace Park National University of Singapore and the University of Malaya, visited a foreign cultural exchange center at the Malaysia Tourism Center (MaTic), and visited an orphanage in Thailand,” Elisa said when contacted Tuesday (3/12) at the FAS UGM campus. Alumnus of Faculty of Animal Science (FAS) UGM batch 2014, Nisma Islami Maharani, became the Science Ambassador of the Center for Science and Technology Research (Puspiptek). She was appointed in the 2019 Puspiptek Innovation Festival (PIF) event on 3-6 October 2019.

Three students of Faculty of Animal Science (FAS) UGM (Imaniar Rusyadi, Fahmi Arrasyid, and Dian Setya Budi), created a particle board prototype based on chicken feathers waste and disposable plastic bottles.

“This innovative product was made as one of the solutions to environmental problems caused by both wastes, which is difficult to decompose naturally. In addition, the availability of both wastes is abundant. According to data from the Central Statistics Agency (2019), broiler production in Indonesia in 2018 will reach 2,144,013 tons. Production of broiler chicken feathers per tail is 9.6% so it can be projected to volume chicken feathers in a year. The production of plastic waste in Indonesia has also reached a serious stage, which is 64 million tons per year and is the second largest in the world,” Imaniar said when met at the FAS UGM campus Friday (11/29). read more

Two students of Faculty of Animal Science (FAS) UGM, M. Alvian Azwar Anas (2015) and Kezia Nathania Amos Oelendeda (2017), had the opportunity to study Australia’s extensive farming system in the NTCA Indonesia Australia Pastoral Program (NIAPP) 2019 on August 25-October 31 2019.

“I was placed in Pigeon Hole Station under Heytesbury Cattle Company with 22,000 cows and 181,000 ha, while Kezia was placed at Brunchilly Station under Sidney Kidman Cattle Company with 24,000 cows and 4572 km2. “There is an extensive farming system, which is raising cattle using natural grazing in feeding, so utilizing native grass and cattle are not kept in the animal housing,” Alvian said in a release Thursday (11/28). read more

Alumnus of Faculty of Animal Science (FAS) UGM batch 2006, Andromeda Sindoro, as the CEO of Sweet Sundae Ice Cream, won the Best of the Best Challenger in the 10^th Diplomat Success Challenge (DSC X) 2019.
