FAS UGM Gave 30 Boxes of Trigona Bee Seed to Farmers

The Faculty of Animal Science (FAS) UGM gave 30 boxes of Trigona bee seeds to members of Gama Ngudi Lestari Farmers’ Group, Banyusoca, Playen, Gunungkidul, on Friday (7/9). This is in line with FAS UGM’s commitment to develop new livestock commodities, namely the Trigona Spp bee species or better known as the lanceng bee.

“Trigona bees are easily developed and do not require extensive land in the cultivation process. Banyusoca is an area that is suitable for the development of the bees, considering there are many plants that have the potential to feed the bees,” Dr. Ir. Bambang Suhartanto, DEA, said, a lecturer at the Laboratory of Animal Feed Forage and Pasture FAS UGM. read more

One Day One Paragraph, Laili’s Step to Reach Achievement

Learning to get used to implementing a one day one paragraph system led Laili Husnul Hidayah to be accepted as a student of the Faculty of Animal Science (FAS) UGM in the 2018/2019 school year. With her achievements in the field of writing, the girl from Ponorogo managed to enter the FAS UGM through the Penelusuran Bibit Unggul Tidak Mampu (PBUTM).

“Thanks God, because of my achievements, I am very grateful and happy to be accepted at the faculty where many food fighters were born,” she said. Laili claimed to consistently implement the one day one paragraph system to write everything that is useful and interesting. From her efforts, she won many achievements at the regional and national levels by writing scientific papers, essays, business plans, short stories, and poetry. read more

Graduate Students of FAS UGM Train Farmers to Make Mineral Block

Graduate Student Asssociation (HMP) of Faculty of Animal Science (FAS) UGM trains the Ngudi Mulyo Livestock Group, Prambanan, to make mineral blocks on Sunday (2/9). This training is based on the complaints of farmers that their livestock are difficult to fat and require artificial insemination for several times to get pregnant.

“In general, farmers still use commercial minerals that are given only at certain times. The use of commercial minerals is less efficient because of its smooth and light shape, so it is easily carried away by the wind,” Ir. Nafiatul Umami, S.Pt., MP., Ph.D., IPM said as the supervisor of the community service program. read more

UGM, Goat and Sheep Breeders Develop Industry

To celebrate its 49th anniversary, Faculty of Animal Sciences UGM in collaboration with sheep and goat breeders have launched the Cooperatives of Goat and Sheep Breeders Association Yogyakarta (PPKDY). Dean of Faculty of Animal Sciences, Prof. Dr. Ir. Ali Agus., DAA., DEA., IPU, launched the organisation at the Auditorium of the faculty on Tuesday(19/9).

According to Ali Agus, the cooperatives was a form of synergy between the Faculty and breeders in the development of goat and sheep industry. The Faculty gives support in terms of science and  technology for breeding, which was a challenge to breeders. read more

National Level of Karate Achievement Takes Ismail to Study at FAS UGM

Due to the national level achievement in the karate, M. Ismail Sholeh successfully entered the Faculty of Animal Science (FAS) UGM in the 2018/2019 academic year through the Penelusuran Bibit Unggul Berprestasi (PBUB) in the Karate branch sports group. Ismail won second place in the karate national championship in Gunung Kidul in 2016.

“Thanks God I was able to be the student of FAS UGM to continue my studies and develop my hobby as a farmer. Livestock has good prospects so I chose FAS UGM to study, “said Ismail. read more
