Dean Confers Degrees to 12 Postgraduate Graduates

The Dean of the Faculty of Animal Science Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), Prof. Ir. Budi Guntoro, S.Pt., M.Sc., Ph.D., IPU, ASEAN Eng., officially conferred degrees to 12 new postgraduate graduates for the 2024/2025 academic year during a ceremony held on Thursday (January 23). The graduates comprised eight master’s degree recipients and four doctoral degree recipients.
Head of the Doctoral Programme, Prof. Ir. Ambar Pertiwiningrum, M.Si., Ph.D., IPM, ASEAN Eng., highlighted that with this graduation, the Faculty has produced a total of 1,004 master’s graduates and 163 doctoral graduates as of December 2024.
The average GPA of the master’s programme graduates was an impressive 3.91, while the doctoral programme graduates achieved an even higher average of 3.99. The typical study duration for master’s students was one year and eight months, while doctoral candidates averaged three years and eight months. The best graduate of this cohort was Muhammad Nidhomun Ni’am, S.Pt., M.Sc., who achieved a remarkable GPA of 3.97 and completed his studies in just one year, four months, and four days.

In his address, Prof. Ir. Budi Guntoro encouraged the graduates to swiftly integrate into society and apply the knowledge they have acquired. He emphasized the challenges awaiting them, including contributing to the success of community welfare programs like the free nutritious meal initiative.

“Learning not only requires academic excellence but also emotional intelligence and adaptability,” Prof. Budi remarked.

He further urged the graduates to tackle pressing issues, such as addressing the scarcity of raw materials for meat and milk production, overcoming land and climate change constraints, and contributing to efforts to control outbreaks like Foot and Mouth Disease.
The ceremony underscored the Faculty’s commitment to producing graduates capable of making meaningful contributions to society and addressing global challenges.
