A total of 323 new students from the UGM Faculty of Animal Science participated in a Barn Tour (Jelajah Kandang) on Thursday (7/7). One of the objectives of this activity was to allow them to further explore the campus environment. The tour involved visiting several locations, including the cattle, dairy, goat, and poultry barns, as well as the forage fields.
“PIONIR Rancher 2025 is committed to creating opportunities for Young Ranchers to explore and familiarize themselves with the campus environment,” explained Mohammad Fahmi Setiaji, General Coordinator of PIONIR Rancher 2025.
The event was well-received by the new Fapet students, including Habsi (from Bantul) and Rafli (from Mojokerto). Habsi expressed his pleasure at the opportunity to learn more about the various facilities available at the Faculty. Similarly, Rafli noted that he gained new knowledge regarding livestock and feed management.
“It was exciting and highly beneficial,” said Habsi.
Before this, the PIONIR Rancher 2025 committee had also organized a Laboratory Tour (Jelajah Laboratorium). This activity aimed to provide hands-on experience in understanding the academic environment. The Laboratory Tour served as an exploratory activity that broadened the new students’ perspectives on the faculty’s academic and research facilities.
“The activity was guided directly by laboratory assistant representatives; new students were introduced to the various laboratories, their functions, and their potential for future development as spaces for both learning and creative work,” stated Fahmi.
Concluded with the Ongoligans Parade
The closing of the PIONIR Rancher 2025 series was a lively affair, featuring processions and parades by the BOs and BSOs. This was followed by celebrations involving the young Ranchers and a performance by the Ongoligans.
