Lecturers from the Faculty of Animal Science Appointed as Assessor for Feed Formulators Competency Certification

Three lecturers from the Faculty of Animal Science Universitas Gadjah Mada (Fapet UGM) appointed as assessors in  Feed Formulators Competency Certification for Politeknik Pembangunan Pertanian Yogyakarta Magelang (Polbangtan YOMA) students. This program took place in Magelang from 23 to 25 February 2026.

The Faculty of Animal Science Universitas Gadjah Mada Graduated 21 Students, 42.86% Earn Cum Laude

The Faculty of Animal Science Universitas Gadjah Mada (Fapet UGM) once again graduated its students in the Animal Science and Industry program during the Period II Graduation of the 2025/2026 Academic Year, which took place on Wednesday (25/2). Out of 21 students, 9 graduates, or 42.86%, earned Cum Laude predicate.

The Head of the Animal Science and Industry Program,  Ir. Muhlisin, S.Pt., M.Agr., Ph.D., IPP., extended his appreciation for the graduates’ achievements. “We’re grateful and beyond proud of their achievements. Hopefully, the knowledge they have acquired will make a real contribution to the development of the livestock sector and livestock-based industries in Indonesia,” he said.   read more

Koperasi Produsen Fapet Sejahtera (KOFATERA) Has Officially Established as a Strategic Partner of the Faculty of Animal Science Universitas Gadjah Mada

Koperasi Produsen Fapet Sejahtera (KOFATERA) has been officially established and has obtained legal entity status.The establishment of KOFATERA marked a strategic action in strengthening the production and marketing ecosystem for the flagship products of the Faculty of Animal Science Universitas Gadjah Mada (Fapet UGM), while also opening a more inclusive collaborative platform for the entire academic community and the wider public.

KOFATERA was established with the primary aim of serving as the Faculty’s official partner in supporting the marketing of various products as a result of the research, development, and entrepreneurial activities, including pasteurized milk, Telur Sejahtera, organic fertilizer, and various other innovative products. Through this professional partnership, KOFATERA is expected to enhance product competitiveness while simultaneously delivering economic added value for both its members and the Faculty of Animal Science. read more

The Faculty of Animal Science Universitas Gadjah Mada Mourns the Passing of Prof. drh. Wartomo Hardjosubroto, MSA 

The Faculty of Animal Science Universitas Gadjah Mada (Fapet UGM) is in mourning. One of its most distinguished professors, Prof. drh. Wartomo Hardjosubroto, MSA, passed away on Sunday (22/2). The late academic, widely known as the “Father of Indonesian Animal Breeding,” died at the age of 90 and was laid to rest at the UGM Sawitsari Cemetery on Sunday (22/2) afternoon.

Prof. Wartomo was a retired lecturer at the Laboratory of Genetics and Animal Breeding, Department of Animal Breeding and Reproduction, the Faculty of Animal Science UGM. Throughout his lifetime, he was recognized as a highly dedicated academic in the development of genetics and animal breeding science in Indonesia. read more

Indonesia-US ART Sparks Halal Certification Controversy: the Dean of the Faculty of Animal Science UGM Highlights Impact on MSMEs and National Food Security 

The signing of the Agreement on Reciprocal Trade (ART) between Indonesia and the United States (US) in February 2026 has sparked a public controversy, with growing concerns that American goods may be allowed into the country without halal certification.

Responding to the controversy, Prof. Ir. Budi Guntoro, S.Pt., SH, M.Sc., PhD., Dean of the Faculty of Animal Science Universitas Gadjah Mada (Fapet UGM), stressed that the matter is far more complex than simply scrapping the halal certification requirement.  read more
