Faculty of Animal Sciences UGM has conducted a community service project in Penajam Paser Utara, East Kalimantan, from 24-25 April 2018. This is in line with the government’s Nawacita program to build the nation from the rural areas by enhancing villages.

Vice-Dean for Research, Community Service, and Cooperation of the Faculty, Bambang Suwignyo, Ph.D., said they did community capacity enhancement of farmer groups in the areas.

The event invited resource persons such as Prof. Dr. Ali Agus who gave a description about cattle culling management that is integrated with oil palm plantation. Another resource person, Yuni Erwanto, Ph.D., explained about integrated chicken breeding while Bambang Suwignyo discussed feed and herding. read more

Who does not love duck meat? Many people love duck meat that can be transformed into various appetizing cuisine, including fried, grilled, roasted and betutu-styled duck. But, did you know that you can turn duck meat into jerky?

“Duck meat can be processed into various cooking, one of them is honey duck jerky,” said UGM Researcher, Dr. Endy Triyannanto, S.Pt., M.Eng. during an interview in Laboratory for Meat Science and Technology, Faculty of Animal Science UGM, a few days ago.

Endy revealed that, in Korea, duck meat has often been processed into jerky. He then began to innovate by making honey duck jerky from the tenderloin of duck meat that was not widely used and usually thrown away. read more

UGM has once again shown its academic quality in global standard as seen in the accreditation given to 5 undergraduate study programmes by international accrediting agency, ASIIN. Previously, 11 study programmes have been accredited. The five study programmes are Mathematics, Statistics, Computer science, Biology and Animal Sciences.

ASIIN (Akkreditierungsagentur für Studiengänge der Ingenieurwissenschaften, der Informatik, der Naturwissenschaften und der Mathematik) is an international accreditation agency from Germany for engineering, mathematics and science, agriculture, and biology disciplines. Student of Faculty of Animal Science (FAS) UGM, Muhammad Amirul Bahaudin, dedicated himself to teach in Raja Ampat, Papua, through Youcan Empower for Nation program on 16—26 January 2018. The program entitled “Perluas Cakrawala Torehkan Cinta Nyata Untuk Indonesia” is aimed to make Indonesia better.

“Joining this program is one of my ways to dedicate myself for this country. I want to see Indonesia from a different point of view,” Muhammad Amirul Bahaudin said on Friday (23/3) at the FAS UGM. The student, often called as Adin, is passionate to share his knowledge to the people in Raja Ampat, especially in Friwen village. With 101 other members who came from various regions of Indonesia, Adin collaborated to teach students in Friwen. read more

Office of International Affairs (OIA) Faculty of Animal Science (FAS) UGM initiates Kamis Inggris, a program to facilitate students, lecturers, and staff to practice English. The name Kamis Inggris is selected because in one week there is only one day that ends with is, namely Kamis, which has the same rhyme as Inggris.

It was said by the head of OIA of FAS UGM, Dr. Endy Triyannanto, S.Pt., M.Eng., in the first gathering of Kamis Inggris on Thursday (22/3) at Auditorium Drh. R. Soepardjo FAS UGM. “Ones who have come to this gathering are those who have committed to involve in the Kamis Inggris program. Students, lecturers, and staff who have bought green wristband from OIA FAS UGM have signed a contract to speak English on the days they wear that wristband, especially on Thursdays,” Endy said. read more
