To develop the science with adequate facility, Faculty of Animal Science (FAS) Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) is going to build Animal Science Learning Center (ASLC), a five-floor building equipped with high technology laboratory equipment.

It was said by Dean of FAS UGM, Prof. Dr. Ir. Ali Agus, DAA., DEA., IPU, Friday (8/6) in UGM after signing documents on building specification proposal and equipment through JICA IP-567 scheme. “FAS has a vision to be one of the best animal science faculties in Asia. Therefore, we have to keep developing ourself both in the science and facilities since the two things should support each other,” the Dean said. read more

As many as 38 international students visit UGM to learn agriculture and animal husbandry in Indonesia.

For 12 days since 9 – 20 July 2018, students from the Philippines, Thailand, Malaysia, Japan, Korea, and Australia will participate in Joint Summer Course Program, organised by Faculty of Agriculture and Faculty of Animal Sciences UGM.

The course is a collaboration between AAACU Study Tour Program 2018 and the University of Queensland Summer Course Program 2018. As many as 20 students of the total are from member countries of Asian Association of Agricultural Colleges and Universities (AAACU) and 18 from University of Queensland. Student of Faculty of Animal Science (FAS) UGM, Muhammad Khoerul Fadhli, presented his scientific paper on a conference in Germany on April 26—28, 2018. An event entitled The 3^rd ICONIC 2018 (International Conference of Integrated Intellectual Community) with the theme “Science and Technology for Sustainability Development” invited Minister of Research, Technology, dan Higher Education of the Republic of Indonesia as the keynote speaker.

“The scientific paper that I presented entitled Milk Production in the First Lactation and its Correlation with Mammary Gland Size of Etawah Grade Goat in BBPTU-HPT Baturraden, Indonesia. I selected this title because dairy goat production in Indonesia is still very low,” said the 2015 student. Under the supervision of FAS UGM lecturer, Dr. Ir. Adiarto, M.Sc., he created a selection method for goat breeds with high productivity through udder measurement. “The result is that the circumference and length of udder has a significant effect towards dairy goat productivity,” he explained when being interviewed at FAS campus, Wednesday (6/6). read more

Alumni of Faculty of Animal Science (FAS) UGM must be able to take the job opportunity on livestock field. Job opportunity on livestock is highly wide, this is because the total population of Indonesia meanwhile the consumption of livestock product is still very low.

It was said by the Dean of FAS UGM, Prof. Dr. Ir. Ali Agus, DAA., DEA., IPU, when giving a remark on graduation ceremony, Wednesday (23/5) at the Auditorium of FAS UGM. “We are in the primordial area since we produce irreplaceable products, such as milk, meat, and eggs. Faculty of Animal Science (FAS) UGM Canteen certified by Halal LPPOM MUI DIY. This certification is done as a commitment to provide halal food with reasonable price to students as the next generation. The certificate handover was conducted on Monday, (14/5) at the canteen of FAS UGM.
