Faculty of Animal Science UGM Holds Academic Workshop and 2021 Curriculum Evaluation

Faculty of Animal Science Universitas Gadjah Mada (Fapet UGM) conducts Academic Workshop on Thursday-Friday (25-26/6), serving as a part of the Faculty’s annual program to evaluate the 2021 curriculum while preparing for the implementation of the 2026 curriculum.

The program was attended by the Faculty chairs, Heads of the Undergraduate, Master’s, Doctoral, and Professional Engineer Study Programs, the Head of the Administrative Office, the Faculty members, the Coordinator of Academic and Student Affairs, and academic administrative staff.

The Dean of Fapet UGM, Prof. Ir. Budi Guntoro, during his remark expressed that curriculum evaluation was conducted to ensure that the learning process remains aligned with the evolving needs of the workforce and advances in competencies within the field of animal science.

“As part of  the 2021 Curriculum Evaluation, one of the key innovations introduced was the development of an integrated practical curriculum organized into practical blocks. On the other hand, the Vice Dean for Academic and Student Affairs, Prof. Ir. Nafiatul Umami, S.Pt., M.P., Ph.D., IPU., ASEAN Eng., added that the implementation of integrated practical blocks is one of the key innovations introduced in the 2026 Curriculum. Faculty members from various laboratories and departments have collaborated to redesign the practical components of the curriculum into integrated, compulsory practical blocks that are more cohesive and application-oriented.

“The 2026 Curriculum will introduce seven compulsory practical blocks designed to strengthen students’ competencies through an integrated learning approach,” she added.

Through this academic workshop, Fapet UGM hopes that the curriculum evaluation and development process will result in a more adaptive, collaborative, and industry-oriented learning system that meets the evolving needs of the livestock sector and related professions.
