Fapet UGM Sends 4 Students to Japan for Internship

Four students from the Faculty of Animal Science Universitas Gadjah Mada (Fapet UGM) are set to take part in the MBKM and internship (Praktik Kerja Lapangan, or PKL) program at the Sumiyoshi Livestock Science Station, University of Miyazaki, Japan, running from April 7 to May 31, 2026. The students, consisting of Najwa Ajrina Santosa, Afif Fauzan Rafi Pratomo, Avira Aurelia Rizqullah, and Muhammad Rayyan Fathurahman, are all from the class of 2023. Prior to their departure, they received a briefing from faculty leadership.

The Vice Dean for Research, Community Service, and Cooperation, Prof. Ir. Yuny Erwanto, S.Pt., MP., Ph.D., IPM., expressed his hope that the students would continue the long-standing partnership between the two institutions.

“The collaboration with the University of Miyazaki has been ongoing since around 2008. I hope you can help sustain this cooperation. At its core, this partnership is built on trust—and that’s something we must always safeguard,” Yuny said on Thursday (2/4).

Yuny added that during their internship in Japan, the students should uphold and promote authentic Indonesian culture. He also encouraged them to seize any future opportunities for further studies should they arise.

The Head of the Undergraduate Program, Ir. Muhlisin, S.Pt., M.Agri., Ph.D., IPP., echoed similar sentiments, urging the students to make the most of the experience. “Learn new things in Japan. Explore as much as you can,” Muhlisin advised.

Student representatives Afif Fauzan Rafi Pratomo and Avira Aurelia Rizqullah shared their pride at being selected for the program.

“We’re a bit nervous, especially since this is our first time. But of course, we’re truly proud to be part of this program,” Avira said.
