HPU of The Faculty of Animal Science in UGM Promotes Healthy Lifestyles Through Posbindu Checkups

The Integrated Health Post for Non-Communicable Disease or Pos Pembinaan Terpadu (Posbindu) of the Faculty of Animal Science UGM once again conducted health checks for approximately 94 lecturers and educational staff on Friday (22/11) at the Faculty of Animal Science’s ASLC Hall. The examinations included blood sugar, cholesterol, and uric acid levels.

Ikhwan Hadianto, S.Pt., Head of the Health Promoting University (HPU) at the Faculty, stated that this activity is both a promotional and preventative effort to prevent Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs).

“More than 100 participants actually registered. We hope that this routine activity will maintain the health of lecturers, educational staff, and students at the Faculty,” explained Ikhwan.

Since its establishment on September 9ᵗʰ, 2022, the Posbindu has routinely conducted activities at least three times a year.

The examinations were conducted according to the five-table mass health screening procedure: registration; a health interview; height, weight, waist circumference, and blood pressure measurements; cholesterol, uric acid, and blood sugar tests; nutritional counseling and a healthy diet.

One of the participants, Ryan Nur Suhardi, admitted to regularly attending Posbindu checks.

“Regular checkups allow us to detect health conditions early,” Ryan explained.

During this examination, participants also had the opportunity to try out a Body Mass Index (BMI) tool. This tool is used to determine a person’s nutritional status based on their weight and height. The BMI can also be used as an initial screening tool to determine a person’s risk of disease.
