Koperasi Produsen Fapet Sejahtera (KOFATERA) has been officially established and has obtained legal entity status. The establishment of KOFATERA marked a strategic action in strengthening the production and marketing ecosystem for the flagship products of the Faculty of Animal Science Universitas Gadjah Mada (Fapet UGM), while also opening a more inclusive collaborative platform for the entire academic community and the wider public.
KOFATERA was established with the primary aim of serving as the Faculty’s official partner in supporting the marketing of various products as a result of the research, development, and entrepreneurial activities, including pasteurized milk, Telur Sejahtera, organic fertilizer, and various other innovative products. Through this professional partnership, KOFATERA is expected to enhance product competitiveness while simultaneously delivering economic added value for both its members and the Faculty of Animal Science.
Prof. Ir. Budi Guntoro, S.Pt., M.Sc., Ph.D., IPU., ASEAN Eng., Dean of the Faculty of Animal Science, explained that the legality of KOFATERA became a fundamental foundation to establish business networking and expand the market. “With its legal entity status, KOFATERA is prepared to operate more quickly, transparently, and accountably in supporting the downstream commercialization of the Faculty’s products,” Budi stated on Tuesday (24/2).
One of KOFATERA’s key advantages is its inclusive and open membership. Not only limited for lecturers and educational staff, KOFATERA also provides opportunities for students, alumni, and a wider range of communities who have commitment to the development of livestock products. This membership model aims at strengthening the role of cooperatives as an economic catalyst that accommodates the aspirations of various groups while also building a broader business network.
KOFATERA is expected to serve as a fundamental bridge between the Faculty and community, particularly in supporting innovations and product marketing from academic activities. “We believe KOFATERA can foster sustainable collaboration and give economic benefits to many,” he explained.
Through the strengthening of governance, marketing networks, and continuous product development, KOFATERA is expected to become a model of a modern cooperative that is adaptive, innovative, and makes a tangible contribution to the advancement of the livestock sector in Indonesia.
