The Faculty of Animal Science at UGM has once again welcomed students from SMK Negeri 3 Madiun for a Field Work Practice (PKL) program. This initiative represents an ongoing collaboration between vocational secondary education and higher education aimed at enhancing students’ skills and their readiness for the workforce.
“We hope the students will gain a broader range of experiences. While they previously undertook internships in the industrial sector, this opportunity offers a more comprehensive experience within a university setting,” said Bayu Faliandra, S.T., a supervising teacher from SMK 3 Madiun, during the handover of the students at the Faculty of Animal Science on Monday (6/10).
The two students participating in this program come from the Laboratory Testing Analysis (APL) department and will undergo the internship for a period of three months. Previously, SMK 3 Madiun had also sent students from the Agricultural Product Quality Processing (PMHP) department to participate in internships at the Faculty.
Meanwhile, Ir. Muhlisin, S.Pt., M.Agri., Ph.D., IPP., Manager of the Tropical Livestock Research Center at the Faculty of Animal Science UGM, stated that the faculty is committed to supporting practical learning activities for vocational high school (SMK) students.
“The Faculty is ready to facilitate this internship program. We hope the students will be active and disciplined and make the most of this opportunity while working in the laboratory,” he advised.
Through this initiative, students from SMK 3 Madiun are expected to gain real-world experience in research and university laboratory settings, while simultaneously strengthening the synergy between vocational schools and universities in developing competent, work-ready human resources.
