Faculty of Animal Science Universitas Gadjah Mada (Fapet UGM) holds a waste management workshop based on Internet of Things (IoT) together with Dr. Ir. Thomas Oka Pratama, M.Eng. from the Faculty of Engineering on Thursday (25/6). The program was joined by members of the Fapet UGM academic community, particularly cleaning service personnel and the Faculty’s HPU (Health Promoting University) team, as an effort to advance their understanding of modern, data-driven, and measurable waste management practices. read more

Faculty of Animal Science Universitas Gadjah Mada (Fapet UGM) conducts Academic Workshop on Thursday-Friday (25-26/6), serving as a part of the Faculty’s annual program to evaluate the 2021 curriculum while preparing for the implementation of the 2026 curriculum.

The program was attended by the Faculty chairs, Heads of the Undergraduate, Master’s, Doctoral, and Professional Engineer Study Programs, the Head of the Administrative Office, the Faculty members, the Coordinator of Academic and Student Affairs, and academic administrative staff.  read more

As many as four students from the Faculty of Animal Science of Universitas Gadjah Mada (Fapet UGM) joined a training program under an Erasmus+ CBHE program entitled “Enhancing Sustainable and Green Leather Technology in Indonesia (ELEGTEC).”  They were Aura Zahwa Syaira from the master program and Imani Fathi Sakinah, Muhammad Azfa Ramadhan, and Muhammad Maulana Bima Sakti from the bachelor program.

These four students would join a 1.5 months training program. The training was started from June 14th through July 27th 2025. The training locations were in Izmir (Turkiye), Athens (Greece), and Pisa (Italy), with a two week period in each country. “During the internship the students are going to receive both theories and practices in environmentally friendly leather tanning process and circular economics on leather industries,” explained one of the project team’s representatives, Dr. Ir. Mohammad Zainal Abidin, S.Pt., M.Biotech., IPM., on Thursday, June 12th. read more

The Faculty of Animal Science in UGM held a Poultry Farming Discussion Forum on Saturday (22/11) at the drh. R. Soepardjo Auditorium. This event brought together academics, practitioners, professional organizations, government officials, and civil society to discuss the theme “National Poultry Farming Transformation: Optimizing 20 Trillion Rupiah Funds Towards Food Independence”.

The Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Ir. Budi Guntoro, S.Pt., M.Sc., Ph.D., IPU., ASEAN Eng., said the workshop was attended by 125 participants from various backgrounds, ranging from farmers, bureaucrats, academics, and poultry industry players. The goal of the workshop was to identify opportunities from the budget-based chicken farming integration plan and to unravel the structural challenges that the government and industry need to anticipate. read more

The Faculty of Animal Science Universitas Gadjah Mada (Fapet UGM) has once again contributed to the development of innovative learning through its participation in the Incentive Program for the Development of Micro-Credential Modules on Online Platforms, organized by the Directorate of Academic Studies and Innovation or Direktorat Kajian dan Invovasi Akademik Universitas Gadjah Mada (DKIA UGM).

One of the modules that has been developed was from the Laboratory of Dairy Livestock and Dairy Industry of Fapet UGM. The laboratorium assistant, Muhammad Rio Rafif, S.Pt., proposed a module entitled “Urban Farming: Urban-Based Pet Goat and Pet Poultry Farming” (“Urban Farming: Beternak Kambing Hias dan Unggas Hias Berbasis Perkotaan”). This module is prepared to provide a practical guide for raising pet animals in a simple and adaptive manner in urban environments. read more
