Graduates of the Faculty of Animal Science UGM should contribute their ideas to the development of national food. This was emphasized by the Dean Faculty of Animal Science UGM, Prof. Ir. UGM Students Develop Heat Stress Prevention Device for Broiler Chickens

Five students from Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) have formed the PKM-KI Team to develop “HeatAway,” a device designed to mitigate the impact of heat stress on broiler chickens. Collaboration Between UGM and IPB University Holds Public Lecture on Dairy Nutrition

The Postgraduate Student Association (HMP) of Faculty of Animal Science UGM held a joint public lecture with students from the Faculty of Animal Science IPB University on Saturday (7/20). The event was attended by 30 students from Faculty of Animal Science UGM and 23 students from Faculty of Animal Science IPB University, including international students from Malaysia and the Philippines. This first-time event focused on the main topic of dairy nutrition. It was part of the 8th Summer Course program organized by Department of Nutrition and Feed Technology Faculty of Animal Science IPB University, in collaboration with Postgraduate Student Association Faculty of Animal Science UGM. read more

UGM Students Utilize Seaweed and Noni Fruit to Reduce Methane Emissions from the Livestock Sector

The world today is abuzz with the term “global boiling” due to the drastic increase in average temperatures in various parts of the world. Methane emissions are one of the causes of global boiling. The Global Monitoring Laboratory states that methane emissions have been rising since 1980, from 1,620 ppb to 1,933.46 ppb in October 2023. These emissions have the potential to increase global temperatures 28 times more than CO2. About 20-25% of total methane emissions come from livestock activities, specifically through enteric fermentation in the rumen of livestock, which produces methane gas that is then released through feces and burping. read more

International Students Participate in the Asian Agricultural Association of College and University Forum

International students from various universities around the world participated in the Asian Agricultural Association of College and University (AAACU) Summer Enrichment Program and the 8th Summer Course Program on Harmony in Animal and Agricultural Production for Global Food Security from July 21 to August 3, 2024, at the Faculty of Animal Science UGM.

The participants hailed from the Philippines, Japan, Thailand, Malaysia, South Korea, Taiwan, the United States, India, and Pakistan.

In his opening remarks, the Dean Faculty of Animal ScienceUGM, Prof. Ir. Budi Guntoro, S.Pt., M.Sc., Ph.D., IPU., ASEAN Eng., stated that the theme of the program highlights innovative strategies, technologies, and best practices aligned with livestock production, environmental conservation, and sustainable food systems. read more
