The Faculty of Animal Science Introduced Innovation of Forage: High-Production and High-Nutrient with Affordable Price

Nowadays, one of the challenges in the farming industry is finding high-production, high nutrient forage at an affordable price. Fortunately, the Faculty of Animal Science Universitas Gadjah Mada (Fapet UGM) has addressed this issue. Through the Laboratorium Hijauan Makanan Ternak dan Pastura (HMTP), the Faculty has successfully contributed by providing livestock feed that meets specific needs, such as tropical alfalfa iegume (Medicago sativa cv Kacang Ratu BW) with PVT number 929/PPVT/2021, napler grass (Pennisetum purpureum cv Gama Umami) with PVT number 889/PVHP/2020 and chicory (Cichorium intybus) which is still in the process of being submitted for PVT. read more

Jago Kandang Enlivens the Closing of Faculty of Animal Science UGM’s 56ᵗʰ Anniversary Celebrations 

The Faculty of Animal Science at Universitas Gadjah Mada officially concluded its 56ᵗʰ Anniversary celebrations on Friday (19/12) at the Drh. Soepardjo Auditorium. The event was made even livelier by Jago Kandang’s performance, a band comprised of lecturers and educational staff from the Faculty.

Formed in 2022, the band consists of Dr. Ir. Endy Triyannanto, S.Pt., M.Eng., IPM., ASEAN Eng. (drum), Ir. Viagian Pastawan, S.Pt., M.Sc., Ph.D., IPP (bass), Ir. Dimas Hand Vidya Paradhipta, S.Pt., M.Sc., Ph.D., IPP and Muhammad Arifin, ST. (guitar), and Prisilia Putri Susilowatie, S.Pd., M.Hum. (vocal). Besides enlivening the event, the presence of Jago Kandang is a manifestation of the commitment of lecturers and education staff in maintaining work-life balance through musical activities. read more

Faculty of Animal Science UGM and BRIN Establish Cooperation in Research on Technology and Processed Animal Products

Faculty of Animal Science UGM and the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) signed a Cooperation Agreement (PKS) on Monday (August 19) at Faculty of Animal Science. The signing ceremony was attended by the Dean Faculty of Animal Science UGM, Prof. Ir. Budi Guntoro, S.Pt., M.Sc., Ph.D., IPU., ASEAN Eng., and the Head of the Center for Research on Technology and Food Processing of BRIN’s Agricultural and Food Research Organization, Satriyo Krido Wahono, Ph.D. The focus of the cooperation is research on technology and food processing for the development of processed animal products. read more

UGM Community Service Programs Empowers Maluku Communities

In 2024, UGM dispatched 7,126 students to serve Community Service Programs to various regions across Indonesia, from Sabang to Merauke. As the oldest national university, UGM embodies the spirit of national unity. The progran aligns with Gajah Mada’s spirit of unifying the archipelago. Hence, the Community Service Programs, which is an academic activity, also carries the spirit of UGM as a unifying force for Indonesia. In contemporary terms, this is known as nationalism.

One of the Community Service Programs groups, out of more than 7,000 students sent by UGM, was placed in Air Buaya District, Buru Regency, Maluku Province. Thirty students were assigned to three villages: Air Buaya, Waemangit, and Waepure, with each village receiving 10 students. They were supervised by the Field Supervisor, Prof. Dr. Ir. Bambang Suwignyo, S.Pt, MP, IPM, ASEAN Eng from Faculty of Animal Science UGM. read more

Learning from Happy’s Spirit and Perseverance Who Gets Tuition Free Study in UGM

Happy’s spirit, determination, and hard work have finally paid off. Despite coming from a low-income family and having a father who is ill, Happy’s enthusiasm for learning and achieving has not waned.

“Don’t give up easily, strive to the fullest, get closer to Allah, seek blessings and be kind, especially to your parents because Allah’s pleasure is in the pleasure of your parents. Study earnestly, Bismillah. Kun fayakun,” said Happy, recalling her journey before being accepted at UGM, Friday (7/26). read more
