The Faculty of Animal Science Universitas Gadjah Mada (Fapet UGM) held its annual Eid al-Adha sacrificial slaughter by processing four cattle and five sheep on campus on Friday (29/5). The event involved faculty members, students, administrative staff, and the Eid al-Adha organizing committee, who worked together throughout the slaughtering process and the distribution of the meat to the Fapet UGM community.

Chair of the Fapet UGM Eid al-Adha Committee, Dr. Ir. Agussalim, S.Pt., M.Sc., IPM., ASEAN Eng., explained that this year’s event served not only as an act of worship but also as an educational opportunity to demonstrate proper halal slaughter practices and humane animal handling. read more

Nowadays, one of the challenges in the farming industry is finding high-production, high nutrient forage at an affordable price. Fortunately, the Faculty of Animal Science Universitas Gadjah Mada (Fapet UGM) has addressed this issue. Through the Laboratorium Hijauan Makanan Ternak dan Pastura (HMTP), the Faculty has successfully contributed by providing livestock feed that meets specific needs, such as tropical alfalfa iegume (Medicago sativa cv Kacang Ratu BW) with PVT number 929/PPVT/2021, napler grass (Pennisetum purpureum cv Gama Umami) with PVT number 889/PVHP/2020 and chicory (Cichorium intybus) which is still in the process of being submitted for PVT. read more

The Faculty of Animal Science at Universitas Gadjah Mada officially concluded its 56ᵗʰ Anniversary celebrations on Friday (19/12) at the Drh. Soepardjo Auditorium. The event was made even livelier by Jago Kandang’s performance, a band comprised of lecturers and educational staff from the Faculty.

Formed in 2022, the band consists of Dr. Ir. Endy Triyannanto, S.Pt., M.Eng., IPM., ASEAN Eng. (drum), Ir. Viagian Pastawan, S.Pt., M.Sc., Ph.D., IPP (bass), Ir. Dimas Hand Vidya Paradhipta, S.Pt., M.Sc., Ph.D., IPP and Muhammad Arifin, ST. (guitar), and Prisilia Putri Susilowatie, S.Pd., M.Hum. (vocal). Besides enlivening the event, the presence of Jago Kandang is a manifestation of the commitment of lecturers and education staff in maintaining work-life balance through musical activities. read more

The Faculty of Animal Science in UGM celebrated the main event of its 56ᵗʰ Anniversary, themed “Enhancing Excellent Human Resources through Livestock-Derived Functional Foods towards Indonesia Emas 2045 (Golden Indonesia 2045)”, at the drh. R. Soepardjo Auditorium on Monday (10/11). The event was attended by UGM Rector Prof. Dr. Ova Emilia, M.Med.Ed., Sp.OG(K)., Ph.D., along with university leadership, faculty members, educational staff, students, and partners. The Faculty of Animal Science at UGM hosted a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) on Tuesday (15/10) regarding the drafting of revisions to the Law on Animal Husbandry and Animal Health (UU PKH). The event was attended by various associations and professional organizations in the fields of animal husbandry and animal health, as well as representatives from academia and industry practitioners from various relevant institutions.

The event opened with remarks from the General Chairman of ISPI (Indonesian Society of Animal Science Professionals), Dr. Ir. H. Audy Joinaldy, S.Pt, M.Sc., M.M., IPU., M.I.P., ASEAN.Eng., who emphasized the importance of synergy among academia, the government, and industry players to produce regulations relevant to the challenges of modern animal husbandry. He noted that various issues regarding livestock management in the country persist, ultimately hindering the achievement of food self-sufficiency. read more
