The Faculty of Animal Science at UGM Establishes Partnership with Rumah Sajada Foundation

The Faculty of Animal Science at UGM established a partnership with the Rumah Sajada Foundation on Monday (15/9). This collaboration was formalized through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Ir. Budi Guntoro, S.Pt., M.Sc., Ph.D., IPU., ASEAN Eng., and the Chairman of the Rumah Sajada Foundation, Ir. Hermawan Ardiyanto, IPM, MBA.

Hermawan stated that the MoU between the Faculty and the Rumah Sajada Foundation is an effort to prepare the children under their care, from both orphanages and Islamic boarding schools, to be ready for the workforce and equipped with skills, particularly for the informal sector.

“Many of these children face difficulties entering and finding employment in the formal sector. Therefore, through this partnership, we hope they will gain the independence to run their own businesses or work with more flexible schedules,” Hermawan said.

Hermawan acknowledged that Rumah Sajada’s operational activities have historically relied on donations. Consequently, the foundation is now preparing for business development through productive waqf (endowment) initiatives.

The Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Budi Guntoro, welcomed the partnership. He expressed hope that this collaboration would enable the university to share the fruits of its Tri Dharma (three pillars of higher education) activities with the wider community.

“It is not merely about worldly matters, but also about the hereafter. The Faculty will assemble a community service team to go into the field and observe the actual conditions firsthand,” Budi emphasized.
