The Faculty of Animal Science in UGM conducted a working visit to strengthen academic governance, collaborative networks, and the Faculty’s Senate institutional capacity. This activity was held on December 11ᵗʰ-12ᵗʰ, 2025, through a visit to PT Japfa Comfeed Indonesia Tbk (Feed Division, Sidoarjo Unit) and the Faculty of Animal Science in Brawijaya University (UB).
The visit to PT Japfa Comfeed Indonesia Tbk was part of an effort to strengthen long-term collaboration between academia and the livestock industry. The meeting discussed the importance of integrating university learning with industry practices to ensure graduates are better prepared for the workforce.
“The collaboration between the Faculty of Animal Science and the industry is very important to produce graduates who not only excel in the theoretical field, but also possess adequate practical experience,” said the Faculty of Animal Science’s Academic Senate Secretary, Prof. Dr. Ir. Budi Prasetyo Widyobroto, DESS., DEA., IPU., ASEAN Eng.
In line with this, the Dean, Prof. Ir. This strengthening is expected to support the advancement of education levels from undergraduate to professional engineer programs in animal science, supported by more comprehensive industrial practices.
Through this visit, Japfa welcomed the initiative positively. Senior Vice President, Head of Feed Technology & Nutrition Feed Division PT Japfa Comfeed Indonesia Tbk, Dr. Ir. Ferry Poernama, M.Sc., expressed Japfa’s readiness to welcome personnel from the Faculty of Animal Science in UGM through machine operation training programs and regular visits as part of strengthening the partnership.

Visiting the Faculty of Animal Science in Brawijaya University
In addition to visiting the industry, the Faculty of Animal Science’s Senate also conducted a comparative study visit to the Faculty of Animal Science in Brawijaya University. This visit took place in a friendly and open atmosphere, considering that many of the lecturers in the Faculty of Animal Science in Brawijaya University are alumni of the Faculty of Animal Science in UGM. The two faculties shared experiences related to academic and non-academic management and discussed strengthening the professional engineer programs in animal science in Indonesia.
Through this series of working visits, the Faculty is committed to pursuing more concrete collaborations, both with industry and between universities. Going forward, this synergy will focus on aligning the curriculum with the needs of modern animal husbandry, developing professional engineer programs, and implementing ongoing training and experience-sharing forums to support the advancement of national animal husbandry.
