Himpunan Mahasiswa Pascasarjana (Master’s Student Association, or HMP) of Doctoral Program in Animal Science of the Faculty of Animal Science Universitas Gadjah Mada (Fapet UGM) successfully conducted Musyawarah Besar (Mubes) as well as the election of the HMP chair for the Doctoral Program for the 2026 term, which was held on Saturday (7/2)
Conducted virtually, the activity aimed to reinforce the role of students organization in supporting both the academic and professional growth within the Animal Science Doctoral Program.
Prof. Ir. Diah Tri Widayati, MP., Ph.D., IPU., ASEAN Eng., Head of the Animal Science Doctoral Program and Advisor to the Doctoral Student Association, stressed in her speech the importance of student organizations in serving as a vehicle for fostering leadership skills, translating academic knowledge into community service initiatives, facilitating scientific collaboration, and enhancing academic networking among doctoral students.
On the other hand, the chair of HMP of Doctoral Program in Animal Science for the 2025 term, Ir. Rochijan, S.Pt., M.Sc., IPM., delivered a report on the outcomes of the work programs during the 2025 term.
“We hope that the various activities we have implemented will contribute to improving academic activities, building student capacity, fostering synergy among the academic community, and realizing Tridharma Perguruan Tinggi (the three pillars of higher education),” said Rochijan.
The main agenda of the Mubes and the election of the chair of HMP for the 2026 term was conducted through consensus, while upholding the principles of democracy and transparency. As a result, Makmun Murod, S.Si., M.Sc., was elected as the Chair of the HMP for the Doctoral Program in Animal Science for the 2026 term.
During his remarks, the elected chair expressed his commitment to continuing the strategic programs that have been running while also fostering innovative activities aimed to improve academic quality, research collaboration, and reinforce the doctoral student community.
The election was also joined by Dr. Ir. Endy Triyannato, S.Pt., M.Eng., Ph.D., IPM., ASEAN Eng., the Head of Master’s Program in Animal Science and Advisor to the Master’s Student Association, as well as active doctoral students across all batches, who demonstrated enthusiasm and active participation throughout the election process.
