The Faculty of Animal Science at UGM has entered into a partnership with LPER (Institute for People’s Economic Empowerment) Teluria regarding small-scale livestock farming, established on Thursday (24/7). The agreement was signed by the Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Ir. Budi Guntoro, S.Pt., M.Sc., Ph.D., IPU., ASEAN Eng., and the Chairman of the LPER Cooperative, H. Mulyadi Atma.
Budi Guntoro welcomed the partnership. The collaboration will be further developed and followed up with additional activities, such as in-depth discussions on community development through laying-hen farming.
“We hope for positive benefits and follow-up actions resulting from this partnership,” said Budi.
Mulyadi Atma stated that LPER Teluria has currently partnered with at least two insurance institutions to support its business development. The organization remains focused on enhancing food self-sufficiency through household-level egg production within the community.
“We are collaborating with various parties, not just UGM, to facilitate studies, research, practical training opportunities, and skills workshops,” said Mulyadi.
Mulyadi expressed hope that animal science faculties across the country could work together to achieve food self-sufficiency. The collaboration between the Faculty of Animal Science at UGM and LPER Teluria is expected to serve as an ideal model for building a science-based small-scale livestock farming system.
