UGM Faculty of Animal Science Holds Seminar for New Doctorates: First Steps in Building a Career and Cultivating Scholarly Integrity

The Faculty of Animal Science Universitas Gadjah Mada (Fapet UGM) held its annual New Doctoral Graduates Seminar on October 8. The scientific forum served as a platform to recognize academic achievements and disseminate research findings from faculty members who had recently completed their doctoral studies.

Dean of the Faculty of Animal Science UGM, Prof. Ir. Bambang Suwignyo, S.Pt., M.P., Ph.D., IPM., ASEAN Eng., emphasized the importance of continuing this tradition to strengthen the academic culture on campus.

“The New Doctoral Graduates Seminar is a tradition that needs to be continued and maintained as a scientific tradition to create opportunities for collaboration,” Bambang said in his opening remarks.

He explained that the forum allows academics from different laboratories and areas of expertise, who may interact regularly in their daily work, to learn more about one another’s academic potential beyond formal classroom activities. This is expected to encourage the development of comprehensive multidisciplinary research proposals rather than studies limited to a single field of knowledge.

Furthermore, he noted that earning a doctoral degree is not merely an academic achievement but also the result of a long process that tests perseverance and patience.

“A doctoral degree is not the end, but the beginning of a career and the implementation of knowledge to advance the livestock sector and development in Indonesia. The spirit of scientific creation must continue to be fostered because science and experts are essential to building a better civilization in the future,” he concluded, while congratulating the new doctoral graduates.
