The Faculty of Animal Science Universitas Gadjah Mada (Fapet UGM) conducted a Welcoming Ceremony for New Graduate and Professional Engineering Program Students for the Even Semester of the 2025/2026 Academic Year, which was held on Monday (9/2) at the Faculty.
Dr. Ir. Endy Triyannanto, S.Pt., M.Eng., IPM., ASEAN Eng., representing the Vice Dean of Academic and Student Affairs, said that the Faculty has accepted 31 Master’s students, 6 Doctoral students, and 80 Professional Engineering students in this even semester of the 2025/2026 academic year.
“For the Master’s program, five of them were accepted through the fast track program. The students come from various backgrounds, both their place of origin and the institution they work for,” said Endy.
In front of the new students, Endy also introduced the Animal Science Learning Center (ASLC) Building which has been certified by the Green Building Council Indonesia-Greenship and World Bank IFC-EDGE.
On the other hand, during his welcoming remarks, the Dean of the Faculty of Animal Science, Budi Guntoro, S.Pt., M.Sc., Ph.D., IPU., ASEAN Eng. stressed the important role of the postgraduate and professional engineering students as scholars who must not solely excel academically but also demonstrate strong character and are grounded in UGM core values. In this occasion, a symbolic wearing of university alma mater was also conducted for students representatives from the Professional Engineer, Master’s, and Doctoral programs.
Pancasila and UGM Values Lectures
Pancasila and UGM Values Lectures for the new students was presented by Prof. Drs. M. Mukhtasar Syamsuddin, M.Hum., Ph.D of Arts. from the Faculty of Philosophy Universitas Gadjah Mada, Prof. Mukhtasar emphasized that both Pancasila and UGM values are the core foundation as well as the orientation in the implementation of Tridharma Perguruan Tinggi; the three main responsibilities that must be fulfilled by the scholars at universities in Indonesia. He highlighted the importance of developing scientific knowledge rooted in humanistic values, social justice, solidarity, and moral responsibility, especially in the face of the nation’s challenges, such as environmental crises, moral decline, and social disintegration.
Moving forward, the public lecture was followed by a session introducing lecturers’ profiles and research agendas for postgraduate students, while the Professional Engineer Program Students participated in a certification workshop.
